Remember guys: SSC- S:afe S:ane C:onsensual ~This is why education on kink and discussing rules and limits and just being extra safe is very important, so you can spot creeps and horrible monsters like this guy. Carefully vet potential partners, and if they scoff at limits and safewords, they are NOT SAFE. In an actual, valid master/slaver relationship (which is the most extreme form of dom/sub relation, there's a lot of lighter versions) there's no abuse, it's based on honesty, trust, mutual understandings, boundaries, often even a valid, written contact. This psycho preyed on the BDSM community, not represented it. That's why these communities are often pretty tight, people know each other so situations like that won't happen (the Internet poses a problem tho of course, because you are always few clicks from potentially meeting someone completely anonymously, so there's no shield of the community over it).
