Lexi Rodriguez received all the accolades, especially being she was a freshman playing like a seasoned senior. She was certainly a fantastic player all year. But, I think with Lexi being a freshman, and playing as well as she was, clouded some judgement with her 1st team all-American, or even being defensive player of the year over Barnes. Lexi wasn't even the "Big Ten Freshmen of the year" - that honor went to Julia Orzol. So, while Lexi is a terrific player, and absolutely fun to watch, it's puzzling why she received these national honors over Lauren Barnes.
@TS092243 жыл бұрын
craigster: while she wasn’t the BIG freshman of the year, she was the defensive player of the year, and obviously the same player wasn’t going to get two awards. that’s just not how they do it. if rodriguez hadn’t been given BIG defensive player of the year, she most certainly would have won BIG freshman of the year

Wisconsin has been fighting for this championsip ever since 2019. I'm glad they finally got it, they had the players and the talent, it was just a matter of time. So sad my huskers didn't get the win, but they put a BIG fight against a team who has been tough on them since 2018. For a team who didn't have the expectations to go deep into the tournament and make it to the championship game says a lot and i'm so proud of them. The best these seniors could have given to the freshman class was this championship experience and passion, now that they have tasted the feeling, they will be fighting to come back and the fact next year tournament its going to be in Omaha again, they will be on the haunt. Lauren Barnes should have been the only 1st team all American libero this year, defensive player of the year, been on the tournament team, and been the REAL MVP! Did anyone notice some bias toward Nebraska on the part of the announcers ? Maybe because of the tradition they expect Nebraska to win if they get there. Sydney and her teammates deserved this Championship, especially after taking Louisville 3 to 2~!!! Wisconsin’s path to the Championship was much more challenging than Nebraska’s. Both Minnesota and Louisville were tough. However, we saw Texas fall apart like a wagon losing its wheels-service error after service error. Pitt lost its power after the first set. Nebraska’s defense, though, was amazing. Their passing game was superb. But with Sydney and Dana at the net; with Julia, Anna, and Jade on fire; with Devyn’s cannon of an arm; with Lauren’s classic digs; with Izzy’s aces and Grace’s timely hits, this was the Badgers’ Championship and so well deserved it was. So sweet!!!!!

The difference for Wisconsin this year was the emergence of Demps from the back row and Anna into the starting line up. That backrow attack is fairly new for her and Anna only played because of an injury to their returning starting Middle Danial Hart. She started to shine against Nebraska the first time they played them , then went quiet and then became a force.

Lol Nebraska’s path to the final match was just as much challenging as Wisconsin’s. Playing Texas in Austin is arguably the hardest matchup a team can get in the tournament. Texas fell apart from the pressure Nebraska puts on teams. Same with Pitt, they didn’t “lose their power”, Nebraska took away that power with tough serving and smart blocking decisions and good touches. Both teams did great things to get there. Both sets of fans need to acknowledge the work from both teams instead of just being homers like there is all over this comment section 😌

@@colewindhorst1161 How could beating the # 1 team in the country not be more of a challenge? And Texas really didn't even deserve to be there. Aside from Baylor and Minnesota, the teams Texas played in the regular season were all mediocre. Check the schedule. :-) How they were ranked # 2 is a mystery. In the end, the best two teams played in the Championship and both looked amazing!

If only the huskers had taken that second set I think they would have gone on to win! Such a shame for those seniors to go out on a loss as in 2018 with Foecke and Maloney! Looking forward to seeing where these freshman can go though! Congrats to Wisconsin, glad this game wasn’t a sweep like during the Big10 and Nebraska gave them a run for their money!

6:50 I'm still learning about volleyball why was that play called bad? They were only on 2 hits I thought u can't have more than 3 right?
@colewindhorst11612 жыл бұрын
It was a double contact, just handled the ball badly so she basically touched two times

They really need to tweak the CRS. When I was in officiating, the emphasis was always on getting the call right. The current system falls way short. They should at least allow the teams to retain their challenge when they win their challenges.
@jonjonjrfrmcali3 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly, although I think coaches sometimes use CRS for time-outs. I also think the list of challengeable calls should include illegal contact ie double-contact, lifting, throwing, etc. CRS does help keep the referees honest and accountable though.

Look at 51:18 that serve by Wisconsin. That was in by 2 feet and they called it out. Those should be looked at by someone and changed without a challenge. Less stop in play and just get the damn call right and dont leave it up to the coaches to decide to challenge or not.
@melodychills51263 жыл бұрын
I fully agree. The CRS should not be the reason a team looses. I think last year in the tournament there was a clear net violation but the team it was against did not have a challenge… and they lost. It was a tight game. Teams should be able to KEEP their challenges if they win and the system needs to be upgraded to be MUCH MORE HELPFUL

Nebraska should’ve won but on the last set they kept setting #10 and she was clearly over pressure, great job by both teams

Where’s Lexi sun? Was she overrated? She had more experience and maybe momentum could have gotten better; who knows? I wish they would say why she didn’t play? I wonder if she regrets leaving Texas; I doubt she would have been benched!
@kiaram86883 жыл бұрын
She probably would’ve been benched at Texas too because they have strong outside hitters.
