my dad was drunk driving from Va. beach ran into an army truck hurrying back to base speeding my mom was 3-4 months pregnant with me she crashed through the windshield rolled down a hill and slammed into a telephone pole the last thing she said before she passed out was Psalm 23 when she awoke again in ambulance she felt me kick while the girl in the backseat of car died at the same moment, I was alive thanks be to God and my moms faith,mom lived and carried me to full term. Praise God for his mercy his word is truth.

+andrew G thank you in God's mercy I see his hand of protection on her from the time momma was a lil girl in mtns Ky one of poorest families in America in Ky, he healed her when she was sick,he warned her in a dream of her first husband would try to kill her to get away. she heard missionaries when she was a young child and baptized her brothers and sisters in creek bar. she was like a mother to many of them watching over them taking care of them on many cold nights. God is truely a father to watch over orphans widow the poor are in his eye if you insult them you insult the God who made them. He's brought my mom through so many operations and has spoke to her dreams of things to come,and dark days to come. She had me 40 years ago. God has been flashing that number 74 over and over and over again to me this past year year I was born I'm not sure why. thank you again How wondrous and wonderful our Abba is. Richie's mom.

I don't get your story? Except your drunk dad caused the death of a girl in a backseat of his car...your pregnant mom didn't pray...she just repeats a couple verses in the Bible..Psalms 23...and somehow you think because she just repeats Psalms 23...this is what kept her and you alive? but she never prayed? I don't get it? and what do you mean..? "she felt me kick while the girl in the backseat of the car died at the same moment"...what the hell does that mean? What a weird thing to say...what is it suppose to mean? Just sounds like a kind of pointless crazy story that has no meaning to it? Are you from the south? If se went through the front windshield and then "passed out"..how could she know when the girl in the backseat died?...you said she was thrown out of the car and then passed out...your story doesn't add up...there's no way she could of known exactly when the other girl died.

I'm not the least religious, but I take the rabbi's more seriously than most religious leaders. This man is a great example of that. When I was in college I went to our local synagogue to interview the rabbi for our school paper. His answers surprised me. I asked about heaven & hell. His vision of the afterlife (or lack thereof) was not what I expected. He said "What if you should do the right thing, just because it's the right thing to do, rather than for some reward". That changed my life.

Thank you Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. The translation is absolutely beautiful and it resounds with what little I have experienced in having Yaweh as my Shepard. I appreciate the corrections too, especially about "surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" where you explain when the paranoia hits. I find myself seeing what the world calls "bad" as something that God somehow ALWAYS turns around to my benefit. I must remember this when what looks "bad" approaches. And whether I see it or not, it is true. It is goodness and mercy, I do not thirst. Thank you for all of it!

No, we're certainly not "saying the same thing". Jesus makes that abundantly clear on almost every page of the New Testament (and the epistle writers confirm what he says). Neither the Jews nor Muslims believe God has a son. And they don't believe God raised him from the dead, thus defeating death forever (Hebrews 2:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15 etc). Jesus says if you don't have him you have no life ("zoen" in Greek) in you: John 6:53-58, 1st John 5:11-12. He says you CANNOT know God except through him: Matthew 11:27, John 5:20, 23, 14:7, 17:3 etc. "Jesus said to him: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no-one can come to the Father, except through me" (John 14:6) He says the Holy Spirit will indwell believers in him (John 14:16-17). And many, many other things. He never once even hinted that he is "a" way and there are "others!" And although everyone is made in the image of God and is precious to Him, not everyone is a CHILD of God. Children of God are defined in passages like the following: "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the children of God, even to them that believe on his name: Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:11-13) "Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God" (1 John 3:1a)

It is fascinating to find how much praise is heaped upon God in the very first wording of Psalm 23 "The lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing" Yet the previous Psalm 22 delivers a very different line "My God, my god why have you deserted me?" A line which we note was used by Jesus on the cross.
