What about online purchases made in NZ where payment is in Euro?

Hi, if I load more NZD than I use on my trip, does it cost anything to put any leftover money back in my NZ bank account? thanks
@MoneyHubNZ7 ай бұрын
There is a fee of around 70 cents, one-off, to send the balance in NZD back to your account from Wise.

If I was to go overseas to study, and then I got a job, would I be able to use Wise to receive my salary and additional financial aid from family back in New Zealand?
@MoneyHubNZ Жыл бұрын
Yes - that's a popular use for it. You'll get a NZ bank account number anyone can pay into.

Hey money hub - I am receiving money from overseas and spend that money is Australia- is the wise card tracker in Australia ( how does it work if I receive usd on my wise card and then spend it in Australia ( many thanks

Excuse the grammar- 🤦♂️ basically I am receiving funds to my wise card from USA but spending the money in Australia ( what are the tax implications? Or how is it tracked?
@MoneyHubNZ8 ай бұрын
@@MrMILLYS77 Hi there - we don't cover tax guidance for Australia, but it's likely the ATO will require you to declare such income. The USD can be converted to AUD by you (and paid into an AUD bank account), or stay in a USD balance and convert to AUD automatically when you make an AUD purchase on the card.

Thanks for all your helpful info about travel cards. I have had a Cash passport card for years but the exchange rates have also been terrible. So I am looking at converting to Wise. Is a Wise card widely accepted in the USA? AlsoI wondered if there is an age limit for getting a card - as I thought it would be a great way for my teenage girls to take their spending money for a six-week trip we are going on.

Yes, Wise is fine in the USA - works at ATMs, shops, hotels etc. Re children, they need to be 18 or over. This is a limitation we hope to see changed.

Hi. Thanks for thorough video. Just a 2 question about the rule about 2x free withdrawals per month. 1. If we have converted money into USD, how do we work out how much we can withdraw for free. 2. I believe you get 2x free withdrawal a month. So does that mean if im traveling 26th Nov till 18th Dec, would i get 2x free for Nov and 2x free for Dec OR only 2x free for that 3 week period total.

Great questions. I've asked Wise and will update you when I hear back. We'll then create a video to explain it all - it's highly relevant.

@@MoneyHubNZ thanks. Also had another question. Do the cards expire ie Do we need to make sure all money added is used before a certain time. Or does the account remain, and we just get another card down the track,
@MoneyHubNZ Жыл бұрын
@@karenpatterson2651 That we can answer - if a card expires, a new one will be issued, so you'll never lose what's in your account. It's nothing like a gift card etc or anything like that.

Hi thanks for the video. If I wanted to withdraw money at an overseas atm, do I need to convert to that foreign currency first?
@MoneyHubNZ2 жыл бұрын
No, Wise does that for you. e.g. if you have NZD in your wallet and withdraw AUD in Australia, Wise converts your NZD into AUD at the market rate.

Hypothetically, if you had EUR loaded and then went to Britain with left over EUR in your wallet, can you convert the left EUR in your EUR wallet to GBP?
@MoneyHubNZ2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do that, no issue at all, just convert the residual EUR to GBP, and your GBP balance will be topped up instantly.

I'm curious what you think of the 1000s of complaints from people on the trustpilot review site where they say Wise froze their accounts without warning, asked for verification after years of using them, terrible support service and several month long delays replying to emails? Based on those reviews, I don't think I would trust Wise with my money.

Do Wise have joint accounts? I'm travelling to the US with my partner and ideally we would like to have one account with Wise, both load it with money equally and then have two separate physical cards to then pay for items coming out of the same account. If this isn't a possibility, is there possibly a work around? i.e. sign up in one person's name then send the other person a digital card to store in their apple wallet and if so, could that person check the balance of the card?
@MoneyHubNZ Жыл бұрын
No - but you can both use the same account with a digital card and a physical card etc. But you may need to be together for online transactions that need a ID verification etc.
