Perfect timing Brent. We’re travelling to Japan next month and we’re looking at getting a Wise account and your vlog just confirmed it for us. Enjoy your trip to the US mate. Cheers.

Thanks!! I hope you enjoy Japan, I haven't been yet but it's very high on the list!

I truly appreciate how you provide honest product information. Your credit card comparison video was very helpful to me.

I love Wise. It is so useful. The one thing that I wish I could do with it that I can’t currently, would be to deposit foreign checks. I have a US business that will only pay me by check. New Zealand banks won’t accept checks, so it would make things much easier if I could deposit a US check into my Wise account.

Make a video on how to buy from Amazon in New Zealand.

I think we can order from the Australian Amazon website. My wife has ordered a few things from them before

Is it cheaper to preload destination currency onto the card, instead of tapping with home currency ?

Assuming interest rates are unchanged it shouldn’t make a difference. Hope this helps!

Depends on what the exchange rate is when you lock it in.

Correct! Whoops looks like I was typing too fast in my previous response, I’d said “interest” instead of “exchange” 😅

I just used my Wise Visa Card in Mumbai, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Kolkata and Indore. PayTM would have been useful!

So... to pay a months Air B&B rent with a virtual Wise card (Mexican residents cannot get physical cards) for an apartment in Singapore (or Malaysia, where I am actually going) what do you ACTUALLY do, in practice? Ask the hotel for a DuitNow Request, which you then pay with the Wise app? Or ask the hotel for their SWIFT code for their bank account, and then use Wise to send it there? Or tell them you want to use GooglePay on your cellphone? Or a DuitNow QR code? Or is Interbank Giro somehow involved?

With a virtual card you should have the regular Visa card details. If you enter that in Wise it should work no different to if you had a physical card.

Another helpful video Brent. Followed your link and set ourselves up but no option for free card apart from digital. Is this offer still available❓🤔
@BrentColemanАй бұрын
Thanks Michael! I just checked and you're right, it seems they've taken that benefit away since I created the video (bugger!). Sorry about that, I've just blurred the reference to the free card option, and am cutting that part out of the video. Thanks for letting me know, I hope you find Wise useful! I would be lost without it when travelling!

@BrentColeman Thanks for the update back, most appreciated. If no one tells you, you're none the wiser. The other half and I both used your link to get a card each. Looking forward to using them overseas. Thanks again for your videos. 👍😀

Does this mean the Banks can see your accounts???
@BrentColemanАй бұрын
Sorry I’m not quite sure what you mean. Your usual bank account can do a transfer into Wise, no different from sending money to a friend’s account. If you use the Visa/Mastercard/AMEX option, it would be like purchasing something from the store. There is no way for Wise to see what’s in your bank account using these top-up options
