I'm learning DAX course in your channel. Tbh, this is the best DAX course I've learned. Thank you so much. Your Course is amazing. I think I'll take Python Course later on when I finished DAX. You're great teacher

Great tutorial, but I have a small remark regarding disabling the auto Date/Time feature in Options==>Data Load as there is a per file equivalent option in the Current File==>Data Load in the same dialog box ;-)

Indeed there is! Annoyingly I realised this after watching the video back after publishing it, c'est la vie! Thanks for taking the time to point it out and for watching!

Really great tutorial. Is there a tutorial on how to create a table using the date field ? How should hours minutes and seconds be handled ? How can a model with more than one date field be handled ie open date and closed date etc ?

Great series! Just running this by to see what you think. I created another age column using the formula "Age in Yrs = INT( (TODAY() - Movies[Release Date])/365.25 )", and then created a column to compare the results of that to your formula using "Match? = Movies[Age In Years] = Movies[Age in Yrs]" (as well as ==), and they matched. Does this really work? (Hope so!). Thanks!

Thanks Jerry! Yes, that's a common approach and it works well enough in most circumstances. It's a little imprecise for my taste - you may encounter edge cases where roughly handling the leap year problem with the additional 0.25 days gives inaccurate results. Although the method shown in the video is more complicated, I prefer the comfort of knowing that it's always going to work!

It's a shame week isn't a default options for dates. In my country at least the preferred level in reports is weeks and not months.
@WiseOwlTutorials Жыл бұрын
Indeed, I believe the reason is that there's so much variability in the way weeks work in different countries. Here's a nice article from the SQLBI guys which might help www.sqlbi.com/articles/week-based-time-intelligence-in-dax/

the result of [release date - today() ] should be negative but your result is positive ,,it does not make sense .
@WiseOwlTutorials Жыл бұрын
Hi! The video doesn't show [Release Date[ - Today(), it shows Today() - [Release Date]. If you're talking about the DateDiff function, as the video says, you put the earliest date first. Hope it helps!
