If you encountered cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types .Correct it as follows : rt click on flat file source->Advanced Editorr->I/O Properties->flat file source output->output columns -> set each column DATA type to DT_WSTR .Solved . This is common issue for freshers. Enjoy SSIS.

I am Beginner and faced following Two errors while following this video. 1- The column "Appname" cannot be processed because more than one code page (65001 and 1252) are specified for it. 2 convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types To fix. -- 1 1.Modified code-behind by replacing all 1252 page number references with 65001. 2 "AlwaysUseDefaultCodePage" property of oledb source as true. Amazing tutorials. Question...My excel to SQL server import fails because of Unicode and non Unicode data types...even with a data transformation in between and correct mapping I get the same issue. Having a closer look revealed that my SQL server types are supporting Unicode...I have no clue and any help even after googling would be good.

how did you guys get the access for the sql script and the apps table?
@barrymorse881010 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the great tutorial. One question about the Data Viewer: Is it possible to view the new AppId in data viewer? I ask because in reality, input and output tables will contain thousands of records, many of which may be unchanged from one instance to the next. Therefore, the only distinguishable change might be the AppId. Seeing the change of AppId would, I suppose, confirm that the correct output file or table was specified in the flow. One of the easiest errors to make, in my experience, is to misspell an output file name or table name on creation.
@aerhearts11 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial. Now, if you have several tables to repopulate - can you set them all up in one Control Flow? Would they run separately in parallel, or should they be strung together in a series?
@andybrown744310 жыл бұрын
Each one would be a separate data flow task. You could run these in series or in parallel in control flow. If the tables are independent of each other, it would be most efficient to run the data flow tasks in parallel, then SSIS could use multi-threading to run them most efficiently.

Andy, I am trying to import a huge flat file into a sql server. It errors out after loading pass 30,000 records. When I physically split the files into two and load it two different times, it imports fine without any error. I also try to write from the flat file to a flat file. That worked fine as well. Andy, is there a flat file limitation on SSIS or at the sql end? Any help is appreciated.

NOAH Hello NOAH, I executed a process loading 40,000 records and I had an error when try to execute the package, the process only loaded 5 records. After review the data source and the table structure, finally, I found the problem: one foreign key in the target table was it the problem. My suggestion is that try follow the same way, maybe you will find a similar solution. Regards.

NOAH Sorry, I was out on vacation for awhile. My issue i realized was with the input file. There were double quotations where it shouldn't be. That was throwing off the SSIS. So, I wrote a script to clean that and it worked fine. Thanks the community for the support/.

Hi again :) i have a problem specifically with loading to EXCEL sheets. I created an Excel Connection Manager, then when i click on the Excel Destination Editor, i fill it and in the Name of the Excel Sheet line i select "NEW", but i get the following error: ------------------------------ The table cannot be created. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ' Level' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long. (Microsoft JET Database Engine) ------------------------------ Note that i tried changes the Level word into something else, tried lower case,..etc but it's useless. I need help ! Thanks

@@WiseOwlTutorials I did actually it did not work. I have to mention when creating the Excel Connection manager, i selected Excel Version 97-2003 like the one in the video, even though my Excel Version on my Laptop is 2016. This because when i tried earlier to select version 2016, and in the Excel Editor, i was not able to create script, when i select "NEW" the window will sudden close. Is this related to the version of Excel? I am not able to use Excel as Source nor Destination .
