The corrosion on locknuts for SWA cable can be prevented by using brass lock nuts or nickel plated brass lock nuts as they are non ferrous. (nickel electro plated brass is best). Believe it or not, an 80p brass lock nut can prevent potentially dangerous non compliances in 2 core SWA where corroded steel lock nuts caused the Zs to exceed max permitted tabulated values. My experience with this comes from electrical installation on caravan parks for 15 years. Always use non-ferrous lock nuts to prevent corrosion when using in areas where water ingress is possible, areas near the sea, damp sea salt air causes corrosion even when it doesn’t rain.

Hi Chris I don’t envy you on these installations , especially when the ip integrity is obviously less than acceptable . I have in my day attempted to mitigate water ingress , by installing a canopy above the dis board . Preferably made from s/s , which will give some protection for water descending from above . As for the quality of the original installation , I’ve seen better exacting from a dog’s ar….. . . But thankfully there are still a few people with the knowledge to make some sense of the shi … that’s out there Kind regards as always

Left them all floating in the box non insulated 👌🏻

You're getting gash. Cheep metal box. Lashed up crimp joint Bit of tape over a split in the primary insulation of the feed cable. There was a time you would have filmed you doing all that job properly. As in back pre blond stage. Hope it's all going well for you. I know you would have done all that properly off camera. 😊

Gash in cable previous guy I did not gland or install the cable. Joint is accessible and much easier for me to gland into a box rather than a torpedo joint with 25mm 4core

Hi Chris, Just curious: Why the Galv box instead of a normal torpedo joint ?.
@Cjrelectrical6 ай бұрын
Just wanted it accessible mate and seemed fairly easy to make off nice height.
