On my first playthrough, after Arthur's diagnosis, I actually started to slow down and explore more. I did more side missions, I slowed down and looked at my surroundings more, looked out into the sights. I fed and cleaned Arthur up, and I did more honorable deeds. This game does a phenomenal job making YOU feel as if you have a limited time in this world, and you start changing your ways as you look back at how you recklessly acted in the past, much like real life. I love this game so much.

I had a feeling something was up when Strauss railroaded me into visiting Thomas Downes, you didnt HAVE to do the other debt collection missions (except one of the first three bc it introduces you to it, and the ledger), and then it made a big deal of showing Arthur riding back to camp, proper cutscene and everything Originally I just thought "yep hes gonna die" and I thought it'd spark some sort of further investigation into the gang, and once you hear Arthur's cough a couple times in chapters 3 and 4 I got suspicious, and then coming back from Guarma I just attributed the coughing to dehydration and general shittiness from having the piss beaten out of him on Guarma... and then the doctor

I'm with you Jett. I purchased the game after your 2nd or 3rd episode, and just got to where you stopped 2 days ago and I'm still upset about Arthur having Turbo. I even looked up when treatments and shit since this takes place in 1899 so they didn't have much. The first successful vaccine used on humans was in 1921, and treatment meds weren't invented until 1946. So he's super fucked, and even in the menu when you go to the character stats it reflects his fate 😭

I know it’s hard to bear, but the show must go on. So if you haven’t caught on, Arthur has TB Thanks to Thomas Downes who was sick with it back at Ch. 2. Like the doc said, it’s a progressive disease, so you may have noticed Arthur coughing in the previous chapters. Antibiotics are the only thing to treat TB, but those weren’t invented/discovered in that time period.

Something dawned on me while playing this game, after Arthur got diagnosed. It's that, yes, Arthur is going to die. But Arthur also lived his life at the fullest. He got to experience so many things, change so many lives (even before his "redemption arc" after learning about TB), met so many people, heck even the illegal stuff, like really I'd love to jump on a train or ride horses like Arthur and all. He's got to love, to fight, to discover things. Heck, even he knows how to read which is pretty rare at that time. He knows how to hunt, to fish, to use dynamite and he got to experience the idea of flying in a hot air balloon, met gunslingers and legendary animals. He's got to travel around the whole country and more. He's got a hard life, but also one of these unique lives. You look at his journals, and how he ends his life... he's lived a full life. What matters from this point forward (won't spoil the rest even tho you've finished the game but who knows maybe someone who never played it is watching this walkthrough) is that Arthur is at peace with what is his ultimate end nearing.
