I had tickets to see Kings X on 27 Sept 2019 in London. I travelled from Dublin and had air tickets booked early. The whole Euro tour was cancelled due to their drummer having a heart attack. I stayed in London with a mate who was also going to the gig. Obviously, we had to make most of the weekend, and checked out the gig guide. The only interesting gig was Martin Turners W.A. playing at his beloved Chelsea ground (Under the Bridgw). He played all of Pilgrimage and New England plus obvious faves as encore (Blowung Free etc) Was a good substitute gig.

Saw the Mk.II lineup twice live in 1976 in Germany and they were pretty good. I am a rocker from India. In the mid 80s, Wishbone Ash was the first foreign band whose concert I attended, and since then, there has been no looking back. I was lucky to meet the group when they were lazing around by the pool at the Palm Beach Hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. They autographed my denim jacket on which earlier my brother and another die-hard rock fan, Prakash, had artistically imprinted Wishbone Ash on to it. Andy Powell & Laurie Wisefield, the two lead guitarists who made their guitars talk to one another, bassist Trevor Bolder and on percussion the energetic Steve Upton made up the troupe. Believe me, until that concert, I had never heard any of their songs, but their music was so catchy that I automatically began to grove to it. Before one could say Jack Robinson, I was high on the music. With the rolls of Steve's drums (Phoenix), Andy's vocals and Laurie's seconds, Trevor plucking on the bass and with hash in the air, the atmosphere was heavenly perfect for and any novice to get instantly hooked onto rock. In all, I attended 3 of their concerts, all in Mumbai. I rate Wishbone Ash as one of the top pure rock bands of all time.
@Flight343GateC Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure this concert took place in Town and Country Club but on 05.03.1990. At that time Steve Upton and Martin Turner were still in the band. Steve left in July 90, replaced by Robbie France and then by Ray Weston. Martin left in autumn 91, replaced by Andy Nyle. I saw them in Paris Elysée Montmartre in this line up on 29.11.91. Another clue is that, in this vid, they don't play any single track from Strange Affair, which was released on 21.04.91. Powell himself, in the book he wrote called "The Illustrated Collector's guide to Wishbone Ash" mentioned this date as "05.03.90 Thames Television film Concert : Town and Country Club". Anyway, thanks Paul for having uploaded this gem. By the way, I saw Wishbone last week in Paris and Powell is still awesome.

@Flight 143. You are correct. I have just gone through all the times I saw Wishbone Ash in London. I first saw them at Hammersmith 88, then the Borderline Pub and Hammersmith in 89. I saw them again at the Marquee Club in 92 followed by Blackheath in 95. I will adjust the Post details tommorow. Thanks for bringing this to my attention
