in irish, beltane is called bal-tanee and means the month of ... May!! i love the english ceili, as i tend to call it. it is just as good as as the celtic o nes. IF NOT BETTER.

@@paulnorminton7873 This is from the counties bordering Wales. Only the ruling class was English or Norman. Most of the people were mainly of Celtic origin. Even today you wilol hear more Welsh being spoken in Shrewsbury than in Cardiff.

I am quite fascinated by Morris dancing, especially edgier troupes such as Beltane Border Morris. Are Morris dances associated with certain seasons or festivities, like Mayday or Midsummer? I'm asking because I'd like to go and see the genuine article sometime.

Mauerbrecher Yes, May day - Beltane. It looks like the particular group in much of the video here (border Morris I believe) also performs at other times during the year.

The dubbed-over music is in 7/16 meter: 2+2+3. The dances don't seem to be; therefore, although they are synchronized, the dancers alternate between 'down on the downbeat' to 'up on the downbeat'. Nonetheless, very clever and well done.
