to the people making comments about how the voice is distorted - if you didn't know, UX (urban exploration) is sometimes illegal as you're trespassing on private land. the cameraman (and perhaps his buddy) wants to protect his identity so he distorts his voice so that you can't recognize the voice. the name "theunknowncameraman" is named so for a reason ;)

Actually, I've done a little research on this place since I first saw this video and left that comment, and you are correct. There is something else going on there. To make a long story short, I spoke with a man working in water utilities, and sealing off a water supply from contamination is usually done with reinforced metal doors, caps, and signs warning about dumping- all which are absent here at Mount Holly. Also, do you know what that thing is called- I can't find the manufacturer website.

I live in mount holly and have been here for 55 years. My father was born here as well. My friends and I use to party on the mount and go sledding. There is a huge water tower on the top. The building is an old pump station. George Washington’s troop crossed here at one point. There is nothing haunting the mount or is there any crazy mystery going on here.

This is by far the best video on the channel, not in a matter of location alone because its just a tower over a well, but the context behind it, how science and legend and history plays a part on it, and the strange security in place makes my imagination work.

This place is so cool. I was here 32 years ago with my bf. Such an eerie feeling as you approach the altar. My bf lived 2 roads over all his life and all he had heard was rumors it was used at times for satanic rituals. Also heard that the church periodically had services right here in the nice weather. At that time obviously it wasn't nearly so overgrown by witches well. There wasn't a fence or security camera. My bf said a witch was thrown down into the well. And if you knocked on the door she would knock back. I felt such sadness and emotion for the alleged witch I went home and wrote a long poem/story that came to me. It was if words were being dictated to me-I couldn't write fast enough.

The reason why there is camera and the voice that comes on is that there is a water tower 10 feet away from the water control station which is what the person filming is talking about, The water tower is controlled by New Jersey American Water. John Silver Yes terrorism at a water tower. Imagine a water borne pathogen being introduced to the inside of that tank. The 9,000+ residents (and day workers) that come into this town could be poisoned for days and not even know it. Actually, someone did that at the lake next to the 7-11 about 15+ years ago. Someone put some kind of poison in the water and it not only killed a number of fish it also sickened almost all of the ducks and geese that were swimming there.

in the beginning, when the above ground "Google Earth" view zoomed in, you can see a water tower in the woods nearby. that water tower needs to be controlled by a small station, which is probably what the "witches well" is. people also don't realize that you can just go to the town hall/town's records keeper and ask what it is. "why the security for a small little station?" water is the easiest way someone could wipe a population out. even in the wilderness, if you use certain products - hair shampoos, soaps, or even defecate in the water, you'll contaminate the water, leading to things like e.Coli running into bottled water facilities, public drinking reservoirs, etc. imagine if someone, a "terrorist" if you will, were to add some deadly strain like smallpox to our water, it'd contaminate the whole system, the biology of the water, and run the risk of killing millions of people. the cameras aren't real time, they're only photo. and, a large flash going off isn't much help other than to identify your figure and possibly clothing. it's a safety measure that probably isn't kept up on most of the time because the immediate threat isn't high enough. no one has hopped a fence to contaminate water, yet, so until someone does, these places will just be "monitored when necessary". I'd be interested to find out how long the fence and camera have been there. pre-9/11?

My old stomping grounds when I was a teen living in mt. holly in the early 90's. friends and I wrote stuff on the altar. We thought it was used to sacrifice people. Our vandalism was minor compared to what you see now. This thing is featured in a book called Weird NJ. Yeah, the cemetery was weird back then, too. Still the same with the exposed grave. The cops were called a couple times we were there but mostly because of noise. We kept quiet. There was one time my cousin and I went and we were stopped by a woman who wanted to take our picture. We let her. Don't know who she was, what she wanted to do with the picture. Never heard or seen from her again. People are definitely strange in that part of Mount Holly.

Well, for starters the flash is so small it wouldn't be effective at all. Also, real surveillance stuff is usually the first thing vandalized- I used to work in the amusement industry- if they can see the camera it's getting pulled down or hit with rocks until it breaks so you have to keep any "real" equipment pretty well hidden. This particular unit might be real, but since I can't find one real camera that has a flash for sale, I'm willing to bet it's a fake. Something weird is going on there.

Those cameras are probably fake. They would be easy to defeat, just take a long bamboo pole and a garbage bag. Use the long pole to drape the garbage bag over the top of the pole and cover up the camera. If you use a black bag, whoever is watching the camera will just think it's broken and will send in a repair request. Since one of them is completely missing from the top of the pole and hasn't been repaired, that makes me think they are all just fakes designed to scare away nosy people.

I wasn't able to find any concrete info on it other than some guy's 'scary story' published in a magazine known for its exaggerated local tales. As far as I can tell, it's just a legend, and likely never actually occurred. Difficult to know much as the only clear reference is a satirical newspaper article from the time. With no other records, it's unknown. Based on how most legends in NJ are, I'd say its all made up. Just fun scary stories. The one tidbit many hold on to, is an alleged very old grave of a young woman in the cemetery next to the witches well and altar and it read something like, “Thus is the fate of all who turn from God.” Kind of creepy message on a grave. They believe this was a witch, or possibly the woman in the legend. Not based on much fact. I wasn't able to find the grave myself and have never seen a photo of it from anyone else. So I'm not sure that's true either or that the grave exists or ever existed. Just another piece from the stories published in a scary stories magazine. Because its a big mystery, I can't say for sure. Maybe it is all true, who knows. I tried digging for info years ago when I made this video, but this was pretty much all I could find. I hope someone eventually can piece it all together.

if gravity is not partly a force why is it not on the other planets. i thought it was because the earth spins
@TheUnknownCameraman8 жыл бұрын
I believe the reason is because everything with mass distorts space/time to a lesser or greater extent and we experience that distortion as a force which we call gravity. I imagine the greater the mass, the greater the gravitational force? I'm sure its not that simple though. General relativity says that matter bends spacetime, and the effect of that bending of spacetime is to create a generalized kind of force that acts on objects. However, it isn't a force as such that acts on the object, but rather just the object following its geodesic path through spacetime. Einstein said there is no such thing as a gravitational force. Mass is not attracting mass over a distance. Instead, it's curving spacetime. Energy tells spacetime how to bend, and the bending of spacetime tells that energy how to move. The concept of gravity is then that objects are falling along the bending of spacetime. The path that objects follow is the geodesic. Standing on the surface of the Earth, if we throw a ball into the air, it will trace out a parabola through space as it rises and then falls back down to Earth. This is the geodesic that it follows. This path is the equivalent of a straight line through four-dimensional spacetime, given the bending of spacetime. The effects of the bending of spacetime change the acceleration of an object, based on its velocity through not only space but also through time, and it appears that the object is accelerating towards the earth, giving rise to the idea that gravity is acting as a force. The amount of bending that is induced by an object is directly related to that object's energy (typically, the most important part of its energy is its mass energy, but there can be exceptions). The Sun's mass is the biggest contribution to bending in our solar system. So much so, that it dwarfs the bending of spacetime by the Earth to the extent that to a very good approximation, we can just consider the Earth to be massless as it travels around the Sun. Similarly, when you're standing on the Earth, the Earth's mass dominates the bending of spacetime over your own, and so you can treat yourself as a massless test particle for all intents and purposes. Gravity is an effect of the warping of space and time in the presence of mass.
