I love when people break down adventure books. I have ADHD and struggle with reading the adventure and retain the billions of pieces, but when watching a video it allows me to take in the information in a more digestible way. I truly hope to see more videos about this, particularly going over troublesome sections or DM tips

My group is convinced that a carnival setting is going to be "super laaaaaame". They're a great group but they're definitely more about the dark, traditionally grim setting and I want to make sure they have a hilariously good time before heading to prismeer. This video helped me get so many ideas where I thought the book kind of failed. THANK YOU!

How about this for a side quest. Fcuk them up in the Hall of Mirrors ;) show them a possible future where they are in real trouble, then suck them into the mirror and give them pregens of the own characters but at a higher level. Then run a future one shot - I mean how dark and gritty 😂 you could kill them all and have them wake back up in the hall of mirrors again.

I bought this book because the store had the collector edition and it is so BEAUTIFUL. Also reading through this I have so much fun to let the carnival appear without Portal just in other settings to lift the mood sometimes.

Great info man I just hope wotc doesn’t get mad about you giving TOO much info away. I mean that sincerely. This is the type of in depth info that helps me decide whether to buy or not. I love the straight forward goal oriented logic in your prep. That’s how me and my players like to operate as well. Subbed!

while dming this i had the party split up a few times during the carnival so they could experience more of it. every time the whole party did 1 i moved the timer (so if they split up they would see 2 things in 1 hour)

I DM for children who are new to the game, so their carnival escapade ended up lasting about 3 sessions. Kettlesteam I changed up a little bit because the singular adult player (who is there to keep the kids from getting themselves killed) is playing an Aarakocra Monk. He plays his characters as an old birdman who has a hard time with societal and social norms, who is ignorant towards other races. I made Kettlesteam a young teenager rather than an adult, to serve as a foil to him.

been running a homebrew that has now led into this campaign, so the party is reaching here at level 7. I am changing quite a bit during the prismeer section, as the characters have a very direct connection to Tasha, and Zybilna, set up before they ever got here. Regardless, I plan to run the carnival basically as written, and this has been super helpful. Thanks!

A note from someone that ran with the Burly plan! First of, there is a misprint: it says Burly suggests stealing it during the extravaganza, but its quite unlikely that they even met burly before that. It must be during the crowning of the monarch that he is supposed to refer to, since that's when its known where the npc's will be and when. I think its fun with heists, but it made the carnival last for 3-6 sessions (only 2-3 h long though). I made them reason it as that they are Very Scared of the Coven, and dont want to send them to their deaths. But, succeeding with stealing the clock, they would give in and realize that they might have a chance. -So that is a solution if you do think the players would like a heist.

you are thinking of the greek muse not the instrument (same spelling different pronunciation)
@Jinuku2 жыл бұрын
@@SteelySam After looking into it, both pronunciations are used for the instrument but as yours was typically used by carnies (either in jest or sincerity) and that's exactly the setting and atypical vibe of the module, cally-op it is!

Hi. I was hoping 4 your thoughts on this. Im not a D.N.D player . But was thinking on making 1. N wanted a back story 4 my hero. My persons dad is a human angel of healing. n mother is a human (neck.row.man.sur.) n my hero is 1/2 angel n has wings. That can heal others n self. N can bring back the dead . I call this in angel of life. My hero wood be born with with some skills 1 a spell that can regen the entire party 24 hours long. 2 can tern my self in to a skeleton as I give my flesh , muscle organs. 2 a dead skeletons. After I regen new flesh ,muscle ,organs, in time. I do not die becoming a skeleton. As my hero be came of age 2 travel both mother n father gave the hero a gift a harp of returning souls . This was a small magical harp that will call forth souls. N with it can be used 2 give life 2 a skeleton I just gave my flesh to. And a Neckless of loyalty, this magical item the 1 Waring this. When the hero brings back something from the dead . It will stay alive so long as it stays in a small town range. N if it leaves the range . it will have a 24 hours time limit n then fall dead. The soul will leave the body. N flesh will tern 2 dust leaving the skeleton.. Can this be my D.n.D hero.? If I wood 2 make 1 ? I call my hero n angel of life.
