Seveni, it just came to my mind that the Russian version of Catherine is Ekaterina, and the pronounciation of the first letter is breathed, like "ye". This might be a connection with HEcate, because H can also be a breathed sound. But I would like to know: what about purity? Is that an attribute associated with the Greek Godess Hekate? They are pronounced very similar as well. I think back when christians were trying to convince and convert pagans, just like they tried to remake the pagan holidays into christian holidays to ensure an easier transition, I’m sure the meanings of some name ended up changed as well. I’ve seen plenty of girl names with some kind of christian meaning but there was nothing in the name or etymology even remotely having anything to do with anything christian
