The shelf is an old spice rack. Have had several. Everyone had one in the 60's-80's. Love to see old things repurposed.

I remember gifting one to my mum that I made in industrial arts in grade 9. Girls had to do a semester of industrial arts, and boys had to do joke economics. We never got to use any of the big scary machines. No girls had to make spice racks

90% of your essential oils are all alcohol base and it leaves a strong alcohol sent to the oil and removes a lot of the properties of the herb used to create the oil whereas water distillation you keep all those benefits and properties of the herb and get to reuse the herb as often as you want.
