There are only very few people in this world who are as talented and versatile like CY. Talk about a guy who is always in a sunny mood and can sing, play, compose and goes fishing Rainbow Trouts in Colorado.❤

This was fantastic. Well done, and that's as helpful and descriptive as you can be in such a short amount of time. Very dense and informative, it's greatly appreciated. Now, I play these on mandolin, but I listen to a lot of violin teachers and coaches because it helps the transitional interpretation from another instrument. When I used to transcribe and perform these on guitar, I had to do the same thing and learn SOMETHING from the violinists or else important elements to the "life" of these pieces gets lost. When I'm practicing some of these from the Bach S&P's on mandolin, I get so wound up into the speed picking and playing them fast, that I start to loose the real interpretation. It's classes/lessons like this that ground us back to interpreting ornamentation etc in a way that helps us practice much better. Then they sound MUCH better when playing them fast because we're putting more of the dynamics and intentions into the right parts of the execution. Again, sincerely, excellent lesson here. ~JSV

Thank you for the coaching. Your explanation gave lots of context to this piece. I was struggling not with the notes, but with understanding how and what Bach's intension was. I hit it truly hard, but failed to understand that it's a "dance". Thanks for the pointers.

Thank you! Very interesting explanation. It’s too early for me to learn this, the teacher shouldn’t know that I’m opening these notes, but now I at least know in which direction to move. 😀🥰

the way he crafts each passage is like watching a maestro conducting a symphony. His precision with words is nothing short of astounding, akin to the intricate play of a masterful violinist. What sets him apart is his ability to seamlessly switch roles between conductor and violinist, creating a harmonious blend in his articulation. It's as if he delicately navigates through the notes, choosing each word with meticulous care. The flow of his phrases is like a musical composition, where every word connects seamlessly, creating a symphony of ideas. Unlike some master violinists, their command of English even though it's their first language did kinda hinder the smooth transitions between tones, tempos, and dynamics in the speech sharing how to play part of particular pieces of music. Listening to him is akin to being enraptured by a captivating melody that leaves you wanting more. His eloquence and delivery are like a perfectly orchestrated performance, leaving an indelible impression on the ears. It's a testament to his skill as both a wordsmith and an orator - a true virtuoso in the realm of language.

His sound is so satisfying. Am I allowed to say that? 😅

I love his sound too. It’s clear, has ‘core’ and feels somehow strong, flexible and alive 💛

Yes, and I realized that his left hand articulation is also a part of it. 🤩

How about repeating the A part, but don't repeat the B part? Because the B part is already longer?

Before you dance you need to play the right rhythm!

He encourages playing just the big beats to feel the rhythm, plays steadily, and then mangles that rhythm with the sped-up 16th notes. To be clear, I don't mind the sped-up 16ths as a stylistic choice, but then let's not pretend that we are holding the dance rhythm as core...

To me, this feels very ‘dancy’… I guess one can’t argue about how music feels to different people; but to me the faster 16th notes in between the strong beats don’t at all impede my sense of dance, of movement, in this piece. It’s an interesting point to make and draw attention to, though…

Violins sound stifled in enclosed places, and recordings just sound so much better with the reverb to simulate a spacious acoustic, and soften the jagged edges of the sound
