The only reason for it I can think of is during number rehearsals he and Smith got into it with who could go deeper into the pose. Either that or Smith had some sort of leg injury to his right leg since he's comfortable with going all the way to the ground with his left.

Unironically in 5e I wish that instead of getting Expertise, bards instead got an ability that let them make a Charisma (Performance) check in place of a normal check for some skills they choose. In a musical, songs are sung to the audience. All characters not in the song can't hear it. So to be stealthy, sing a song about how stealthy you are and how no one can hear you. SIng extra loud so no one can hear you. Accompany yourself with trumpets.
