I've seen Elvis 10 times and each time Austin, you brought Elvis Presley to life as no one could. I knew that he was a terrific man and a great singer but, you brought Elvis the man to light in this movie. I really love Elvis Presley but, after watching the movie I love him so deeply that words can't explain. God bless you Austin Butler for bringing us Elvis and God bless our King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley

I enjoyed this so much. Even though I had seen some of it in bits and pieces. I can not get enough of watching Austin and watching Elvis videos. I grew up watching his movies and lived through the time, but looking back I had no idea what we were experiencing. An Icon in the making, the word didn’t exist so to speak. All I can say about Austin is, he was possessed by Elvis’ spirit. And maybe that is why he was exhausted after the film was done, to the point that he was hospitalized for several weeks. He put his heart and soul into this role. He is so nice looking and so sweet and humble. I hope and pray that this shot to stardom does not become too much. Stay grounded young man, God Bless each and everyone who had a part in this and May Shonka Dukuerh RIP…she passed away at the age of 44, on July 25-one month after the film was released..She was a Beal Street character and sang Hound Dog, a very sweet lady…prayers for her kids and family. She had taken her small kids to see the premier…..they were so proud…so sad…and last but not least…RIP EP..YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. God Bless.

@@sirlyeelmets3800 I have had the same concern for Austin. It took a lot out of him, physically, mentally, and emotionaly. When an actor, lives & breaths the movie' s character for 2 years,---never getting "out" of that character, pouring everything in to it he has. THEN it' s OVER. First he NEEDS TO GET BACK IN TOUCH W/ HIMSELF. Also to learn to come back down "slowly". Re-learn his own voice again, personality, walk, wardrobe, his own dance. Then prepare for the next movie role he's to play. And get back his old social life, that is "Austin' s"....

@@sirlyeelmets3800 You are entirely "WELCOME". When in an interview, & also this video interview as well, I heard AUSTIN say he decided he had to be "obsessed" with Elvis in order to play this role. To listen to his interviews/watch his movies/study his music, to obsess in to his character,---when I heard this is what Austin did to play this character,--- that' s when I knew he would be heading for trouble. People have to find themselves again, get back into their own self, before they can get their life, BACK TO REALITY!! I had just heard recently he was not feeling well/"under the weather",--- I knew it has started!! 🤔😪😢 "Keep Him In Your Prayers"🙏🙏🙏🙏 THANK YOU!!

Yup. I am now obsessed with Elvis and Austin as Elvis. And Baz. all of it. I think I was in 4th grade when Elvis died. I never thought much about him. I saw the Hawaii show once and remember thinking…he’s good and he loves his fans. I never knew his history..growing up around Black folks, his experience in the Black gospel church…I read that his mother picked cotton at one point. Damn. Elvis came from a soulful experience. Ok. I need to stop. I don’t know how to get off this ride. I feel so much sadness too. His star burned so bright. He lived more than most of us ever will. ❤

When you said Austin, that the singers from the 50s, didn't make like ELVIS. You really can't compare Elvis to anyone. Elvis was a unique individual. He would've been as famous as he still is. Some one would've seen him or heard his music 🎵🎶🎶 along the way. He made himself ELVIS DID. He was already on the way up with the 3 songs he had recorded. I think that Parker did get him good deals, but in my opinion ELVIS was a talent in his own. He had everything a movie star can have, and when he sang, omg! With that velvety voice, uumm a delicious man. Multitalented, sexy, charismatic, and humble. His looks where like you said a Picasso, and that's why we love him so. He will be loved way, way after we are all gone. ELVIS HAS BEEN ALWAYS THE EMBOLOGI OF THE AMERICAN CULTURE. HE IS SND EAS OUR AMERICAN IDIOLOGY OF ROCK N ROLL, THATS WHY HE'S OUR KING 👑 OF ROCK N ROLL! ! WE MISS YOU OUR DEAR ELVIS. 👑🎶🎵🎶💙💜💙💜💙

Austin is amazing and I could go on and on. But the other singers fantastic as well. Alton Mason's performance was wonderful and took me right back to Little Richard all those years ago, plus Alton is stunning. Yola is so talented and now I am listening to her contemporary music. Shonka Dukureh's performance was great and now I am looking into Big Mama Thornton's work and history. Shonka's death at age 44 is so very sad. Big kudos to all!

@Chris I was "shocked" when I read of Shonka' s passing. Especially so SOON after the release of the movie in June. She has children, not sure how many, nor their ages. Those are the ones I'm most concerned about. Those kids have to be just shattered. I don't recall hearing of a husband. Hopefully their dad will be a good father raising them. She took the kids to the movie premier. They were so proud of their momma.

I think Austin Butler will go down in infamy his portrayal of Elvis was amazing so much so that it took poor Lisa Marie five days to come to grips how much he really really captured his spirit is Essence his challenge. Between the movie and still mourning her beautiful son I think she died of a broken heart

It really was brilliantly done. 🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 Maybe eventually Lisa will have her legacy also told by Mr Baz. She was awfully proud of the work of her Dad, and rightfully so. To her Elvis was Dad, and ppl should be respectful of that. Jus as they should all. He really was extraordinary, she was as well.. All fans are saddened with the Presley family that Lisa is not here. But I believe she's with her loved ones that have crossed over . Elvis Presley will never be forgotten. The Presley are like American royalty, sounds strange, but quite true.

Hollywood blew it by not awarding Austin and "Elvis" Oscars. Outstanding movies should cause an emotional reaction that leaves the viewer feeling happy, sad, elated, inspired and with a new knowledge and understanding and "Elvis" accomplished all that and more. Instead, movies like "Somewhere...leave confusion, uncertainty, unbelievability, moral disgust and a misuse of movie-goers time.

Having owned every record by Elvis as a teen, my bedroom walls wallpapered with photos of him , I had very little interest in seeing someone I never heard of even attempt to play the role of the greatest & most beloved singer in the world, figuring what a disaster the movie would be. Who on this earth could possibly move like him & lipsync well enough because nobody could possibly sing like him either. Then I heard Baz Lehrman directed it... hmm, ok... I'll play along & get to it eventually. Late one night I put it on my big flat-screen & literally stood up 3 inches to it when this unfamiliar man Austin started singing & moving & playing a guitar & I was DUMBFOUNDED ! SHOCKED, THRILLED, INTRIGUED & GRATEFUL to see this icon being portrayed FLAWLESSLY ! And I thought " and his lipsyncing isn't bad at all either ! I stood up as close as possible every time Austin sang disbelieving my eyes. Austin Butler was singing as well !! I can honestly say that his acting, singing, moving is equal to many of the greatest actors ever, &better than some Oscar winners to date. He BECAME ELVIS INCARNATE & I am so thankful this man was given this part to play. I so hope the Oscar is given to Austin. I'd honestly say he is one of the greatest actors EVER...

I loved the movie, Austin was great. The only thing I didn’t understand was why Billy Smith, Elvis’s Cousin, who was portrayed in the movie, very briefly, was with Elvis in the car, when Vernon, Gladys and Elvis moved from Tupelo to Memphis, Tennessee.Billy knew Elvis his whole life up til the very day that Elvis died Billy and his wife Jo were there with Elvis, not Jerry Schilling, not Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu, (EX-wife of Elvis, she had been gone for years) Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu only spent six years with Elvis, but Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu portrayed all of the knowledge???Jerry didn’t even have the decency while talking to Billy on the day that the. “Elvis” Movie Premiere was in Memphis to invite Billy and Joe to it. I might try to understand why Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu wouldn’t invite them (evidently not sophisticated enough for her liking). Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu, Billy and Jo were going to California with Elvis making movies before Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu was ever thought about. So sorry Billy and Jo chose to remain as Elvis did, Grounded to Memphis. That’s why Elvis loved Graceland and his family. Jerry Schilling, Billy traveled in a car with Elvis when he first (in the beginning) started touring, but yet he wasn’t good enough to come to the Premiere? You were on the phone to Billy when that Elvis Premier was being shown and you didn’t invite Billy or Jo, Elvis’s FAMILY, to that showing, we Elvis FANS, would like to know WHY? Billy was with Elvis longer than any of y’all, WHY was he not important enough. I certainly sense why Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu didn’t, but why you, Jerry Schilling, were you out of theirs and Elvis’s Memphis home? It is really amazing what California living can do to a heart and soul! Not Elvis, not Billy and Jo. Common folk like Elvis Presley, he would be appalled at some of you Californians thoughts and attitudes. Elvis genuinely loved EVERYONE, even the poor, weak underdogs. (Should have said MAINLY the poor, weak underdogs) he NEVER FORGOT where he came from, NEVER. Jerry Schilling, Elvis’ Most Loyal Friend and Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu, EX-Wife of only less than six years, too bad Elvis’s family could not tell their side of the story. They were pushed away after the opening of Graceland, even when Billy was working at Graceland, out of sight, out of mind, isn’t that right Miss Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu, EX of ELVIS AARON PRESLEY. I guess Billy and Jo could tell to many wonderful TRUE Stories. Only Elvis, Billy and Jo know. You can listen to EFM and MMK on U Tube if you want to know “THE REST OF THE STORY !”

Elvis would of made without the man that isn’t a Tom or a Parker and would of had a fair deal and not had to give over 50% of everything which backfired on that disgusting man as he was trying to stop the Elvis family from blocking them to his money and they went to court and he lost. They said he had $1 million when he passed I think for him even that was a lot. He took advantage of Elvis ever chance he could and didn’t care about Elvis feeling. Elvis would of been better if without the carnie he should of never managed anyone and stayed a carnie.

Stop trying to make Parker look so nice. It is not possible to be a successful conman without using charm, but that doesn't make the charm a good thing. It is what draws someone in and it is the thing Parker probably laughed about every night, like look what I put over on them.

A lot of the artists in the 50s didn't make it out, but all of those who did, except Elvis, made it out without Col. Parker.

What right does Prisciila have to keep Riley from attending the Oscars with the new Elvis movie. I hope Austin and Baz let Riley know she is included. Lisa left everything to Riley. She rightly should be there. Lisa removed Priscilla in her trust.

Lisa didn’t mention her mother. She said her family. It must have been hard for Austin to be in the middle of the dysfunctional dynamic between Priscilla and Lisa…although he was clearly closer to Lisa.

In an interview he said he sometimes sounds like Elvis in the film and has Elvis mannerisms because he has been EP for two years and it just happens…it’s become part of what makes a life-like character…it is so convincing …at times I forgot it was Austin…the kid deserves 10 Oscars (or more).

Perhaps it's a mannerism he doesn't realize he's doing as he's thinking & trying to articulate himself. Or perhaps it's a self soothing thing to help him get through interviews. Either way I love seeing him be wholly himself, however he feels comfortable and whatever that may look like.

Elvis didn’t want to sing in his films, so you’re wrong Tom Hanks. Parker kept him making the same BS “formula films” because they made money. Elvis wanted a dramatic role with no singing and girls everywhere. He needed a challenge. Elvis knew Hollywood was laughing at him by keeping him in those BS films, same script, film after film.

Do we not already have so much exploitation which has been blown out of proportion with such celebrities as Elvis, Marilyn, James Dean, Judy Garland, etc...not one of them would have been brought to such exploitation if they had lived to old age. The ways they died and their ages had much to do with this over exaggerated status of their fame. Please USA, what media and the public turned those celebs into...no thanks. Give me those great celebs who lived lives with no exploitation; i.e., Katherine Hepburn, Irene Dunne, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Claudette Colbert, Norma Shearer, Joel Macrea, Robert Taylor, Susan Hayward, Barbara Stanwyck, Jimmy Stewart, Rosalind Russell, Melvyn Douglas, Robert Montgomery, Ray Milland, James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Doris Day, Tyrone Power, Gene Tierney, Jane Wyman, Loretta Young, Greer Garson, Ronald Coleman, Walter Pidgeon, Lana Turner, Hedy Lamarr, and so many others who I believe we're far more talented than a Marilyn or James Dean....

Watch it…you will be glad you did. The acting etc is so spot-on that you will be addicted before you know it. The focus is right where it’s supposed to be…on Elvis. Recording back in those days sounds nothing like today’s. If the music was like today’s, there would be no Elvis…does that make sense?
