You may have only spent $500 in “raw materials” but your expertise, skill, experience, talent as a storyteller and artist is what makes that video worth A LOT more. I mean, how do you charge the client for your “Be An Artist” idea and the design of the video? If it only took you an hour to come up with it, does that mean you only charge your $125 hourly rate? No way! Plus, you should charge clients based on the value of the results your work gets, not the time and materials that went into making it. You’re not a commodity, Hillier! You’re an artist who can help clients solve problems and achieve their goals. That’s worth so much more than $500. 😎🤑 Kinda wish this vid was about how you can charge $5k, $10k, $50k for a big time commercial but only spend $500 to do it. Seriously awesome work, though. Especially with those neon animations. 🙌🏻🤘🏻

Random question, for editing vlogs. Do you think having any music track under A-Roll/Talking moments takes away from the video? Should music only be used under B-Roll sequences?
@HillierSmith3 жыл бұрын
An entire video about music is coming in the very near future... 😉 But the short answer is music needs to reflect the action of the video. In the first ten seconds of this video, for example, I have electronic, bright music playing. When I say "$1,000,000" the music cuts out to highlight it...then the beat drops and the tempo picks up to show that having a $1,000,000 budget is exciting and that your mind races with possibilities. Then the music cuts out again when I reveal that it's only a $500 budget...So in the first 30 seconds, we've had about 4 music changes all to reflect the action of the video...TLDR: music should "yes and" the story.
