you'd be surprised how many band's or musical performers thst are out there that are as good or better than any of the one you hear on the radio or in main stream.. one of the big problems is the record labels that control the industry. If you signed contract expect you to conform to their will more less and when you do send the contracts you don't make hardly any money if you make money at all. it's my experience that most of us only make money if we have to go on tour because record sales and t-shirts sells and anything else you can think of ..very little if any goes in their pockets.. most of the really really good bands are signed to small record labels that you have never even heard of so if you're in Aurora area try to figure out what record labels are closest to you that that sign bands to whatever kind of music that you want to listen to andalways support your local music..
