Lars is an excellent addition to the team! Hardcore stuff going into those conditions in summer gear, good to point out the risk factor. Fortunately there were other people on the water and you on the beach, so help was available.

Best advise ever!!!! You gotta know your limits. People laugh at me when I tell them conditions are to hard, but in the end it's all about safety and fun. Awesome video!

Thanks for that great video. Lars is a real likeable North German windsurfer. I thought Nico would never fall off the board, good to see that even a star of the scene has his limits and has always been perfect. Thank you both for the great video.

Haha, good on you Lars! (Would have been cool for you to do a little commentary on Lars's sailing - coaching tips?) And surely there must be some second hand gear at the store which he can use to update his kit - I haven't see a boom shape like that since the nineties. Anyway, entertaining video once again Mr Prien, keep 'em coming

The danger with cold water comes from gear failure, so you should dress for the worst case (e.g., if your mast breaks and you must swim back to shore), not the best case where you nail every jibe and stay mostly dry.

Right, and Nico shows the air temp was 5C, but Baltic sea temp was right around that. Does that windsurf-van have a sauna ;)

Lars is crazy to go out in those conditions sans sleeves. Glad all were safe - and warm and at the end. Also, great waterstart in the rough stuff from Nico.

Great vídeo. I like to see you falling to see how you manage the situations. Also great to see Lars. Can you do more videos with him and correct is posture, etc? Also can you give some examples with vídeo of sea self rescue and sail and board sizes vs wind conditions? finally can we see uphauling on those choppy conditions? tx in advance.

Know your limits. I never get into the water in storm.... Great vlog. Can you please make a vlog about select the fin size? I always use the fin that come with the board, but what I missing? I surfing with Futura 2022 size 77.

We had a similar situation here in Egypt (in February, probably as cold as Germany in April...) where a friend was struggling to water start and up-haul and we where really far out, eventually I sailed to a huge fishing boat near by and told them the situation, they came and rescued him with their large winch and fishing net, they got him out of the sea like they would fish! It was scary in the begging but a funny sight at the end !

Great video! I agree you have to know your limits and hypothermia can set in quicker than you realize. A good video maybe tips on self rescue. That may just save a life. I've had to self rescue when the mast broke in the middle of a lake and was thankful for the few videos i watched for tips. Cant imagine what it would have been like in the ocean with a sub par wetsuit.

Nico - from what I saw of all the other windsurfers out there, including Lars, was that you were the only one that that looked comfortable and fast. I would have been like Lars in those conditions. Do you have any tips on managing that kind of swell when you are going out directly into it?

And after the emotions cooled down. I must say, Lars, you are the MAN. I know exactly how cold is Baltic sea at this time of year. With proper wetsuit and boots it is really enjoyable. But with short sleeves and no proper boots. You are one crazy guy. Greetings from Tallinn, Estland.
