This is still my favorite song Sonny's ever made. I've been following this guy since he was originally in FFTL, and through the Bells era, and into the early Skrillex stuff. I remember listening to this for the first time and it changing the way I looked at music production, no exaggeration. It's no wonder how he became so huge, he literally changed the game. He may not have invented "dubstep", and I'm sure he pulled a lot of inspiration for this type of stuff from Daft Punk and etc etc, but none of that matters. Because his music has never sounded like anyone else's. There are a million Skrillex imitators, but his entire discography is totally original in my opinion. That's why fifteen years later, even when I'm not listening to a lot of dance music, I still come back to this stuff and the Gypsyhook EP every now and then, because it was the soundtrack to me growing up. He took genre cliches and molded them into something that hadn't been done before up until then. Back then, during the anticipation of the Bells album that never came back in like 2008, we were a community with a website dedicated to it, it's so crazy to remember how different the internet was back then. Everything was changing rapidly. Those were good times, though.

damn, we’re almost the same person. i was a huge fftl fan and followed his solo stuff after he left, loved this when it came out, i was lucky enough to get scary monsters and nice sprites on glow in the dark vinyl because it got released right before the ep blew up. i still remember going to probably that exact same website to check for and download new skrillex and sonny tracks, or updated versions of songs. honestly i’m still kinda sad that bells never came out and he never ended up pursuing that path

This video does not get that much attention due to the fact that the Long Drive version is liked by most people. It's probably the ways the vocals were sampled and the story behind that song. If I recall and my memory does not fail me Sonny/Skrillex dedicated that song to a friend of his named David that was dying in a hospital in California. The title was because Sonny/Skrillex and his friends were there and they very much appreciate each other, so he thought of naming it originally going to name it With You Friends I Can Do Anything because of something that David said, but the title was too long, so he shortened it to With You Friends. He also dedicated it to his mom that was dying from cancer but did not die, because if you can hear closely in the Long Drive version it says: [You Are My Mom] Tell my mom I'm down on my knees [You Are My Mom] I love you

To all the people who are asking why this EP isn't on spotify, i have an answer: This EP was self released by Skrillex himself, just like Leaving EP and on spotify, they only put the EP's and albums that have been accepted by Atlantic Records or another official music records. This song is legit my all time favorite song. I still remember the 1st time I heard it. I had a subscription to last.fm on my Xbox 360 at age 20 (2010). I had just experienced a horrible break up with my exfiance and spent most of my days playing Call of Duty Black Ops (the original) and Homefront.
