Within Temptation and Metropole Orchestra - Ice Queen (REACTION) AWESOME!

This was a fantastic concert. I was involved in the production and I remember sitting at my desk working while the rehearsals were taking place in the studio next door in Hilversum. They were rehearsing the instrumental opening of this concert which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful and epic pieces of music ever written. I was blown away, stopped working and went for the studio. One of those moments that your hair stand straight up. The Metropole orchestra is called the best light music orchestra in the world for very good reasons. I sad down next to Sharon and had a nice chat with her and her husband. Really nice people. She was having a cold, but being a professional, the show must go and did go on!!! I enjoyed every minute of the concert itself. The DVD runs regularly over here. Check out the duet with Anneke van Giersbergen!!!

The Metropole Orchestra has won several Grammy Awards past decades. A very versatile orchestra. Less metal but beautiful is their work with Trijntje Oosterhuis on Burt Bacharach compositions, and the late master himself worked with Trijntje on that. I love the song Somewhere by WIthin Temptation as performed on the Black Symphony show with guest vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen.

I shall have to point you in the direction of The Gathering, another legendary Dutch band that paved the way in the mid 90s. Anneke Van Giesbergen is one of my favourite singers in this sphere. Watch out for a request soon ;-)

Not familiar with that band as far as I know. Anneke i have only heard once i believe in the song Valley of The Queens.

It's so cool that you knew this song! It is their "signature" song and it was played a lot in some European countries. I requested this verison because I think it's much better than the original recorded version. Sharon's voice has changed a lot over the years. In most of their older (pre-2010) songs, she used the high "head" voice most of the time. It's very ethereal and beautiful. But since 2010 or so, she does a lot more belting and uses her gorgeous chest voice most of the time.

Great reaction, Saeed. Sharon is not only one of the most beautiful singers in metal, her unique voice and her energetic movements on stage are outstanding. She is a one of a million person. I recomment you songs of their earlier works. 'Enter' and 'Mother Earth' are awesome albums with lot of great songs.

Haha, da's het grote voordeel van zacht ruisend aan dingen voorbij leven. En passant blijft altijd wat hangen als je in staat bent om ook onbewust kwaliteit op te pikken. Later kun je dan zomaar worden overweldigd door een gevoel van thuiskomen. En nog wel op het goede moment ook! Pisweer, eerste blaadjes dreigen te vallen, zomer glipt uit je handen en dan word je zomaar opeens door Sharon als een verloren zoon onthaald. Zoals door anderen al opgemerkt, daarbinnen is het goed toeven met Anneke & Sharon in één van de meest magistrale duetten ooit live opgenomen. Even verderop leidt het pad naar het live concert dat The Gathering in 2014 gaf ter ere van hun 25-jarige bestaan (TG25, Doornroosje, Nijmegen). I know you said you've added their song Wireless to your (no doubt very long) list and I can't wait for that! But Sharon also did a massive hit with Armin van Buuren, called "In And Out Of Love" - one of his biggest anthems. Time for some trance!? :) Can't promise thoughtful lyrics but the layering of instruments as per Armin's usual high standards is where the fun is. Trance wins hands down as my fave genre to listen to while banging out code.
