Plenty of crossovers & connections with Within Temptation. Robert Westerholt's brother Martjin was originally in the band but left and formed Delain. Sharon Den Adel (Robert's partner and lead singer of WT) has done vocals with Delain, as has Marco from Nightwish. Sharon has also done vocals with Armin Van Buren as well.

older Within Temptation.. theyve changed alot.. they started around the same time as Nightwish.. Within tho has gotten much more mainstreamy.. i believe they started as doom metal then transitioned to symphonic.. if you want deep ive 2 tracks by them.. deep for different reasons official vid for "frozen"(not disney related) "say my name"

The album this is taken from (The Silent Force) has a fair few melancholy moments on it, it is a glorious album though. For a more Modern take you could try Faster (which always reminds me of Chris Isaac's Wicked Game) the track they did with Tarja: Paradise or The Reckoning, which is their most current release. Either way they are incredibly good, Sharon's vocals are always stunning.

Sharon's voice is so light and air-y. It's literally makes me feel physically light, as if I'm about to float up into the air. Floor *is* a better singer but some qualities can't be taught or replicates. Sharon is also self taught, as far as I know she never took a singing lesson in her life.

Nice explanation. I have a similar thing for Amy Lee. While an absolute beast of a vocalist, she isnt technically as good as, say, Floor. But replicating her ghostly haunting sound is damn near impossible.

This band was more successful than Nightwish in first 10 years. The lead singer arguably the best on the world or up there with Floor. She can really hit high notes first 2 albums heavier but all songs all amazing.

Thank you for the awesome reaction! Just want to clear up a minor misunderstanding. I have been following Nightwish and Floor Jansen both since 1997, before they joined together. I have 23 years of wonderful experience with Nightwish but I have only been following Within Temptation for the last 10 years or so. With that being said, I simply find that Nightwish has many more songs that I personally enjoy than Within Temptation but I love both of these bands. Similarly, I do personally feel that Floor just has an amazing ability and training that goes far beyond most other female vocalists therefore I tend to listen more to her than others. Again just my opinion but I do love both of these bands and both of these amazing women. Thanks again and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

Pity you didn't start with a live performance of WT. They sound exactly like the studio stuff, but the immersion is way bigger. Reacting to studio recordings is a bit MEH. They can make a pig sound like the next Pavarotti. So you'll never know if that is the real vocal range ( which in this case, it is )
