I find it incredibly interesting that he plays through the whole song without fills. I am a drummer also and I have never played a song before without using any transitional fill-work. So to see Drummer go through such an intricate song and transition every rhythm so smoothly without the use of fills is pretty impressive. Its opened me up to potentially cutting down on my fills and really focusing on the beat at hand and being as intricate as possible.

Fr bud this guy's a really clean act and one of the things I admire most about him as a drummer, not flashy or over the top but exactly on target. It's some good material to learn on honestly, listening to them has helped me develop my play style quite a bit so I can better play the genre.

all this talk on no tom hits, ive played this song and tried to add tom fills, they just dont work with the progression of the song. the cymbal accents and double bass flares are more than adequate, they accent and add color to the guitar work. adding toms would be too flashy and take away from the hard hitting of the song, when it comes to writing music it is the drummers interpretation of what the song is portraying and how the drummer can best add to the music.

IM A DUMBASS FOR CALLING OUT HIS BULLSHIT FLAW??? mabey a musician in a band as big and professional as his should try be more professional about his art and play consistently with what he records, I don't record shit on a record that im not gunna be playing live the same.
@rexvermis9 жыл бұрын
Esteban Juarez Yo broski, its just one little mistake. You see him playing the song perfectly throughout the rest of the song. They put the original audio on top of it because it sounds better instead of just a shitty mick in the room. All the hand motions and hits that he does are real. And if you've ever seen WTR live before, you'll know that he's fucking spot on with his playing.

How he can playing fast with this crossing hands on hi hat and snare. It looks so unhandy. And this thumb on left hand which though not holds the stick. This guy is fast, but he was probably starting playing drums technically wrong from the beginning.
@DenvarShay10 жыл бұрын
Most people play hi hats cross handed...open handed is a lot less common. "technically wrong"? Who cares? His technique allows him to play at this level.

Alexandre Paquette I watched it because I love this album. The mix is stupendous and very hard hitting. I also hold great respect for these guys and their accomplishments. It does however sadden my heart see this and feel like he is doing nothing but playing the original parts created by midi programming instead of applying his own influences and drumming style therefore elevating the bands uniqueness.
@TyronTention10 жыл бұрын
Andrew Noe That's funny because almost every drummer uses fills and they are always the same ones over and over again no matter how cool they sound. I like that it doesn't have fills. They have a unique sound and if you listen closely enough there are some latin sounding drums going in in some subtle places. The flow of the song and how the drums follow the song make it unique on its own. Not everything needs a fill. There are 10 other songs.
@benjamin329010 жыл бұрын
I mean, it's an awesome song and all but there is absolutely nothing impressive with this drum track at all. I consider myself an "all-around musician" aka a jack of all trades master of none, and I could totally play this on drums. Nothing to see here, folks. (fyi - I'm a big WTR fan - this is just nothing special)
@bejaranofamily41097 жыл бұрын
I'm a beginner drummer, intermediate guitarist, expert on what I like to see. to me, the way he played it made it look boring like no passion. even though he did a great job covering the song he also did a great job at making it look....i don't know how else to put this... "gay" am I wrong? is it just me that got bored watching him?
