I had a massive epiphany one day where i realised I used to have so much creativity when I was 8-15. My old journals had short stories written in it, i would draw like crazy, read so many books and game MODERATLEY. I am now a 21 year old uni student with a part time lazy office job and game obsessivley in my only spare time and as of October 2023, I have been on a mission to get back in touch with that younger version of myself. I picked up reading, my journal is starting to bulge, I'm learning how to use guoache paints, building miniature sets along with gaming and I have never been so fulfilled just by doing these little hobbies because it truly is all just for me and my brain has been loving it :))

I notice from most of the comments that many of us “lost” our creativity or pushed our hobbies to the back around college. The place that is supposed to foster creativity and open new avenues actually stunted us. I’m glad that most of us are reconnecting with our younger selves again! I use to write poetry everyday and while my muse has changed to writing stories instead it feels great to embrace that side of myself again.

Standard education isn't pushing to be our best but to be the best among others. Most people are taught to be better, get good grades, and hold big pressure that they don't even have time for themselves. I agree that grades, studies and all that are essential but it shouldn't come to an extent which you lose your happiness. When I come back to see old high school friends after like 4 years and see them in such a depressing state that even some picked up alcohol or other addictions. It makes me sad, so please take care of yourself. Do what makes you happy, prioritize your mental health 😁

Librarian here! Happy to recommend some good romcoms! I’m not sure what you’ve read already, but Happy Place by Emily Henry is probably my favorite romcom ever. All of Emily Henry’s adult romances are great, but this one for me was her best. Not only was the romance compelling - and I don’t normally enjoy the exes-to-lovers trope, so this is high praise from me for this book - but the actual story was just… oof, right in the feels. It’s about growing up, and about how that changes you and especially your friendships. The friendship aspects of the story had me literally in tears, but in the best way. And like all Emily Henry books, in the end you feel healed, like the world was ripped apart and put back together better than it was before. So good. I highly recommend it. If you enjoy cozy books, I’d also recommend The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. If you enjoy audiobooks at all, I loved the narrator for this one, so it’d be good for any commutes you have. The romance is a sunny/grumpy, mild enemies-to-lovers, but not in any sort of toxic or gross way. Like I said, it’s cozy, so it’s sweet and low stakes with a guaranteed happy ending but without being vapid.

@beccabecca711 ай бұрын
@@princyy824 Depends on the position and the library how much you get paid. For example, I know that an academic librarian (works in a university or research library) makes much more than a public librarian. But for any librarian job, you need a master’s degree in library and information science. You can still work in a library without a master’s degree, but you would likely be a library assistant, which makes less money and is often part time, unless the library is small and desperate for staff or you have equivalent experience and they’re willing to take you despite not having the master’s.

Seeing the love you have for each of these hobbies is so beautiful. I feel like when we were kids, hobbies we spent our free time on are still what we naturally gravitate towards, but adult stuff gets in the way. It’s also way too easy to fall into the trap of having “hobbies” that are actually just obligations or habits. Once I gave myself the time to relax and enjoy swimming like I used to, I remembered how good it felt to love what I was doing. And I’ve been able to find that love in other areas of my life!

When I tell you that it took me *years* for some of my hobbies to re-emerge after the burnout I experienced in college. I used to write in my journals faithfully from age 7 onward... and then quit when I started university - couldn't keep up with it. Graduated university in 2012. As of 2022 I started journaling again as a whole ass adult in her 30s. And it's been so unbelievably rewarding. I don't think I could've really gotten into it any sooner, all that to say, the burnout is so real but don't give up hope on your hobbies. Some of the passion comes back LITERALLY A WHOLE DECADE LATER. and it will be completely worth the slow journey to get there. Additionally, thank you for the inspiration, Linh! 2024 is, for me, also a year to unapologetically enjoy what I enjoy and do the things I love, so I think maybe I should make a video about my hobbies as well... I have... A LOT OF HOBBIES.... and like, idk, learning about people's hobbies is so interesting to me!!! I LOVE videos like this! and it's so fun getting to watch you embrace your hobbies and commit to loving what you love.

I haven’t even finish the video but I had to comment. I have been working since graduating uni for almost 5 years now. Feel like I stopped being a child at like 11 years old due to a lot of personal challenges and now at 27 I’m looking to reconnect to my inner child and my hobbies. I used to draw, read, write and loved doing crafts but now is all 9-5 and I feel exhausted at the end of the day so I’m excited for this year to focus more on my hobbies and passions, loved your videos and your book recommendations ❤

last year I got back into reading by just re-reading every Rick Riordan book and the ones I hadn't read by him and now I've been reading so much! Its made me feel so much better and genuinely made me so much happier. That along with getting outside more and taking walks, and I've also been getting back into TV which I just haven't consumed in so long and I forgot how fun it is.

Video games are much cooler than people think. I read, dance, write, sing, cook, play board games, but I don’t play video games. Just watching my bf and his cousin playing is sooo fun. So many good memories

I feel this so much! I got back into anime last year and have been watching one piece religiously - it's not only been an amazing experience but has also reignited this certain type of joy and wonder in me that 9-5-job-adult-me desperately needs. also rewatching attack on titan last year was a peak moment for me lol and definitely reminded me that I should seek out the things I've enjoyed throughout my life, scrolling tiktok is not worth it. this year I'm looking to get back into a daily reading routine, I haven't fully let go of reading but the routine of it has been off for years already and I miss it. now that I've already read a few books in the past few months I can feel the routine re-starting and it makes me really happy. from last year I'd really recommend Happy Place and the Green Bone saga!

Thanks for the timely video. I used to devour thick books but lost interest during university. Rediscovering books last year has been rejuvenating, and I've also taken up drawing for peace. This creative outlet now serves as my escape from the realities of work and personal issues.

I've realized lately I let one of my major hobbies (now as a career path), music, kind of take over my life. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love music and auditioning for all that I can, but I needed a friendly reminder to take a breather and that I'm allowed to do other things. Your video is such a cozy vibe and I absolutely loved the way you presented everything!

If you loved Pachinko, I'd reccomend checking out Beasts of a Little Land! It's beautiful and heartbreaking, not quite intergenerational but spans decades of Korean history through characters that are often on the margins of history or left out altogether. Also looking forward to getting back into hobbies this year, the DC library has so many amazing resources - the MLK library has free sewing classes and tools!

one of my new year’s resolutions is to start sewing my own clothes again. i never learned how to sew formally and learned as an autodidact for the most part but my mother and grandmother encouraged me in the past to try sewing once i said it would interest me how to do it. nowadays i never find the time to do it which is quite unfortunate because i used to love sewing. therefore, 2024 is for sewing my own garments!

if anyone was interested in the games that were talked about in the video, i HIGHLY recommend spiritfarer!! it is a really interesting game with a beautiful artstyle and soundtrack and it really transports you to a whole new world! there are so many characters to get to know and the stakes of the game are really low, so you it's the perfect game to play at night :) hope u guys enjoy it as much as i did!!

During COVID I faced major burnout in gaming, for over 3 years I did not launch a single game on my PC, it was only for photo/video editing that entire time and this fall IDK what happened but I had the urge to play a short hike and that was the spark I needed to play video games again.

I realize now that I did things really backwards. I wanted art to be my career, but it's better as a hobby for me. And my love of books and stories is definitely more of a job I can get excited about. So I went from an animation major to an English major!

Yes! Florence mentioned! That is such a good game that I don't see many people talking about. Finished it in high school and planning to replay it during uni, it's also on sale on Steam now so please go get it, such a gem. Great video btw, I discovered it late but this will be my reference for my 2025 New Year resolution.

I've been pretty good at picking back up my hobbies for a year! I'm reading a lot, gaming sometimes, watching animation films and I'm finally taking the time to draw and to learn to animate! Some hobbies I would like to pick up are painting, pastels (I bought a set a year ago now and still haven't tried it), singing, and maybe try a sport like ice skating, roller blading or why not bouldering. (The sporty ones are the most difficult since it requires to go outside and be seen by people)

I run a journal group with my coworkers and we all have different styles of creativity. We have prompts and exchanges. Our group has become a big source of community, inspiration and overall fun in the midst of our corporate lives. Some write, some draw, some collage, it's wonderful to see how everyone shares their creativity with each other. We also plan craft nights to hang out together. Stuff like shrinky dinks or pony bead bracelets. Hobbies are good for your soul!

The hobbies I want to keep making (more, for some) time for are also reading, video games, writing, watching stuff (mainly cartoons, cartoons are so underrated to watch as an adult but there is some very good ans fun stuff !), ttrpg (only playing dnd for now but I want to check out others as well), and learning languages. I started kpop collecting at the end of last year and plan on briguing that in 2024 as well, and I've always been interested in learning more about photography, so I hope I can take some time for it this year.

Very late into 2023, I started trying to read more/read again :). I got very into the Hannibal series and now I have a pile of books! A big want of mine is to read all the "old" classics. Like the ones you'd hear every kid had to read in highschool or what not. I'm currently reading Good Omens, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and House Of Leaves! I also made a Goodreads. I wanted a way to physically track the boys I read/log them somewhere and this was the best choice I found :)!!

I love this video so much linh, I’ve been struggling so much during this spring semester in college and this really inspired me to pick up reading and video games again! so I’m reading and playing tears of the kingdom whenever I have some free time (I am also not even close to finishing that game💀)! also! If you’re still looking for book recommendations, I think you’ll love The Mirror Visitor series! It was originally written in French but has been translated to English and the romance has been compared to the relationship in Pride and Prejudice because of the enemies to lovers trope and for its slow burn! I love seeing the relationship grow, but the world building and the plot twists are just so amazing, and it’s now one of my favorite series that I love to reread, along with the Percy Jackson series too!💙

As a responsible working parent with a toddler, the very few times I do take an hour just for me to have fun and catch up with my hobbies I end up regretting it because usually something that requires fixing/cleaning/solving happens during that time and the sooner I get to it, the easier it is to fix/clean/solve. My wife is in the exact same boat, she is also constantly cooking/cleaning/working/parenting. The amount of chores and things to do is relentless
