This is my favourite song from Rent, and this is probably one of the most beautiful ways I've ever heard it performed. Leslie Odom Jr is an incredible talent- I can't wait to see the places he goes!

My next door neighbor just died today and Leslie performed this at his concert tonight in Milwaukee which I went to and I could not stop sobbing. He did it with a full orchestra and it was beyond beautiful. Rest In Peace Ken. :'(

LYRICS Without you, the ground thaws the rain falls the grass grows Without you, the seeds root the flowers bloom the children play The stars gleam the poets dream the eagles fly without you The Earth turns the sun burns but I die, without you Without you, the breeze warms the girl smiles the cloud moves Without you, the tides change the boys run the oceans crash The crowds roar the days soar the babies cry without you The moon glows the river flows but I die without you Without you Without you, the hand gropes the ear hears the pulse beats Without you, the eyes gaze the legs walk the lungs breathe The mind churns The heart yearns the tears dry, without you Life goes on but I'm gone 'cause I die, without you without you without you without you...

Ads on? Really dude
@trstno1MD7 жыл бұрын
John Smith. Yeah, I agree. I specifically declined ads when I set up my KZbin account years ago. The ads for this video didn't start until about a month ago. I suspect that KZbin has matched this video to the song's copyright holder, who has opted for ads. That's not so bad, though - the alternative is that the copyright holder could have blocked it. Regardless, the ads aren't my choice, and I'm not making any money.

I've got this video with 175,000 views, and no ads. I think KZbin must have matched Without You to the copyright holder. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmGyn6l6l956q7M

This song is kinda boring... I haven't seen Rent, so maybe it's just the arrangement? :/ His voice is amazing but the song isn't.
@trstno1MD7 жыл бұрын
Kaniner Flagg This song is definitely a significant moment in Rent, sung as a duet, with 3 separate story lines progressing on stage at the same time. Most Rent fans would consider it a top moment in the musical. It's hard for me to comment on the song out of that context. I think Leslie Odom's solo performance, stripped down to just the guitar accompanying, is really beautiful.
@someoneodd33297 жыл бұрын
Bill Barry exactly!
@phoebus55167 жыл бұрын
Kaniner Flagg+ I think it can be seen as "boring" when taken out of the context of the musical. In the musical itself, this song comes after several high energy and enthusiastic music numbers, so I think it was meant to be a song of slow and quiet contemplation and a sort of "rest" for the audience after the excitement of the previous songs. In a concert, without hearing the previous songs, this song can be seen as being abit too slow and subtle.
