Apparently using scotch tape helps the material not get stuck on your machine, Annika Victoria has a clear circle skirt tutorial where she has some tips with using this material. I love how this turned out!!
@withwendy6 жыл бұрын
Amen to Annika's tip! When I tested my material I was relieved it all went under the foot smoothly, it was the passing of material through the arm of the machine that got a little tight sometimes. But if anyone's feet has trouble gripping the material, scotch tape!

There's very little chance of me using a raincoat living in the middle of the dessert but daaaaamn this is so pretty and I totally want to try it! I always wanted something like this from watching anime as a kid Wendy. That detail with the bias tape get it to a whole new level. I'm prepared for the vinyl battle my dear Wendy!

You could get a shower liner from the dollar store & use it as your fabric! Love this tutorial
@withwendy6 жыл бұрын
This is true! And then take a shower in it to test if it's waterproof? Hahah :)
@tornfeather16 жыл бұрын
Please be careful when buying shower liners for clothes. Not all plastics are made the same and many shower liners leach out toxic gases (new liner smell) and weren't constructed or sold with the intention of significant prolonged contact with human skin. Otherwise have fun and I think it's a fabulous idea
@bellrose26596 жыл бұрын
tornfeather1 what would I look out for if I was going to buy a shower curtain
@TheWaldocrazy5 жыл бұрын
@@bellrose2659 it's not that serious if you're going to wear it 1-2 times a week for 3-4 hours. Plus it's not going to be directly on your skin unless you wanna go out nude

I loved this tutorial! Plastic vinyl is incredibly hard to work with, I made a gown with it once and after that experience I'll probably never use it again lol. It's so cool how it's completely waterproof though! I actually filled the skirt with water and it turned out really interesting

Working with vinyl is not at all a desire I've had in the 3.5 years that I've been sewing, but your rain coat looks really cute! I live in Atlanta so the zippers might be a necessity here, too. Or maybe just cut holes in the arm pits? Love your videos! You inspire me!

Vinyl is definitely not a joy to sew with, but has a fun touch for sure :) Yes just go all out and cut armpit breathing holes I totally support this

I learned using coconut oil on the vinyl material makes it go through the machine just fine. Elsewise it sticks so bad - and doesnt sew properly.

Where I live it REALLY rains so I got a vinyl raincoat from Target years ago that was also clear it was horrible because the rain would drip right into my face and into the neck when the hood was up (it also had a big loose hood) and when it was down, it would collect in the hood and drop down my back. Same would happen at the wrist of the sleeves if my hand was moving around- just dripped down my arm. Super trendy but was not functional for me. 😭
