I'm in no place to tell anyone what to do. But as a longtime subscriber, commenter and admirer of yours I think it would be a great practice if you tried not to mention your 'haters' in your videos. I think there are mean people who actively are trying to get a reaction from you. So I hope this is not taken the wrong way but maybe just don't give them any response at all because I think there are some people who are watching to see if you respond. I liked you ten years ago. I liked you five years ago. And I like you now. I think that you are a great person and you have such a sweet nature and you tend to apologize for things you don't need to apologize for. You can be however you are and we as your viewers can watch it or not. And so many people choose to watch and are nice. I wouldn't give any weight to the people who are mean.

I've done some reading lately about medieval sleep practices; apparently, EVERYONE used to sleep in 2 stages, and would even get out and visit neighbors or have tea or read or other activities in the awake time in between. It has done much to make me feel like waking up at 3 is normal, and embrace my awake time and make it special. Then I can relax and get back to sleep.

As a now 51 yo woman whose parents divorced when I was 7, it was the best gift my mother ever gave us. My parents were not good partners but rose to their very best as parents after the divorce. My mother was such an amazing role model for us to know our worth and to have standards. Also, I remember in 5th grade wishing my mom had the same last name. She had retaken her maiden name. Keep on moving forward and know that your children notice more than you think they do.

The animated movie "Inside out" showed us that all our emotions are valid. We don't HAVE to be 'happy' all the time. We and those around us have to learn to deal with that. We can only live authentic lives if we are honest with ourselves first and that means giving ourselves the permission to experience and acknowledge all our emotions.
@lauraburgess15344 жыл бұрын
I am always telling people about this movie. Not only are all emotions valid, but we can experience multiple ones at the same time. At the end, when Riley's memories get "recolored" as both joyful and sad, or sad and angry, was so powerful to me.

Speaking as someone who is also uncomfortable with casual dating, you are by no means obliged to see more than one person at once, I used to chat to a couple of nice people on dating apps and if they were really nice then meet them in person for a first date, with the mindset of if I found someone I then wanted to go on a second date with I would stop talking to other people. I was always incredibly honest that I was not looking for an open relationship, exclusivity was a priority for me and if that wasnt something they feltl they were ready for I politely said goodbye, Yes this way can make things take longer but I was in no rush. The biggest piece of advice I give for all to consider is spend a good amount of time deciding what YOU want, and be as open with it as possible. The whole concept of dating/relationships/good traits/bad traits/superficial/genuine is all subjective, so don't ever chastise yourself for the things you consider a priority, everyone is different, find someone who's priorities line up with yours as best as possible!

I am absolutely the same when it comes to sleep. There is something about actually turning out the light and trying to go to sleep that can feel an insurmountable task. It sounds really weird unless you've gone through it yourself. I've found putting on an audiobook and using a warm eye mask for about 15 mins really helps. It kind of bridges the gap between not going to sleep and sleeping. Sort of tricks my brain into thinking its not bed time when it is. Then after 15 mins when I take the mask off my eyes are already shut, the light is already out and I'm much more content to sleep. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone in this at all. Xx

I can so relate to you. I wasn't allowed to date until I was 18 and then was afraid to because I didn't know how. I married my husband after a very short time of knowing him. We didn't really date. After two children and 5 grandgirls I divorced him ( I was never allowed a vote in any decision no matter it's importance). Shortly after my divorce I moved from Michigan to Ireland to a place I'd never been. My grandfather was born in Ireland so citizenship was easy for me. I have never been as contented and deeply happy and free as I am now, but I am also a bit anxious over this whole damn penic ( mispronunciation intentional). Love your vlog!!

I feel your pain regarding the sleep. I am older than you and at your age I also went through extreme anxiety (possibly due in part to an unhappy marriage or was contributing to it. I dont know which) sleep is important. I have done a lot of reading about women's health in the last 5 years since I turned 40 and have discovered that food really impacts the way I feel. It was not uncommon for me to routinely skip meals and eat poorly in the past but since I've made an effort to eat more regularly I find that it helps tremendously with my anxiety. I also take melatonin for sleep which helps me and I am now in a new relationship. Sorry for the unsolicited advice but seeing you like this reminds me of what I was going through and I wish someone had told me!

YES on the cross road feelings! Life is about the process and finding joy in where you are. This took me a long time to discover, I was a runner- big time. Any time I felt unsure or discontent my automatic response was a big change, a cross country move, a career change, a break up. I finally have come to a place where I realize that happiness comes from working within myself not some external change. That’s not to say that this is everyone’s experience and it certainly wasn’t my childhood experience growing up with drug addicted, dysfunctional parents.

Hey girl been watching your videos since the beginning, love your content. I just wanted to say since you mentioned it the first 5 seconds of the video. If you are worried about styling your hair and all the haters out there, there’s hair pieces called toppers-not a wig but just extra hair you clip in and all’s you got to do is style it and then you can wear it for about a week or 2 without having to do anything to it. It’s so easy. I don’t sell them or anything it’s just something I recently came across and am interested in getting one myself. I like the Lauren Ashtyn Collection. Just FYI. Hair is stressful doing it all the time, so why not make things simple?

About your name! I kept my name after my divorce because of my kids! I grew up in the 60’s with a mom whose name was different from ours so I wanted to keep my name the same as theirs. Then I remarried after they were grown (21 and 25) and I still kept my first married name. By this time it had been my name for 27 years and it was MY name . And name changing is such a pain in the ass.....so many things to change. Do what feels good for you!

Take a listen to Dr. Laura Schlessinger's advice on dating after divorce and the impact on children. Interesting perspective.

Agree and thought the same thing...! But don’t think she’d like it 😬

@@fmm269 You may be right. I think it takes a little time to digest what Dr. Laura's position is on this but after hearing so many people's issues with dating and even remarrying with minor children, it's undeniable that there's a significant negative impact to the children.

@@natashalarock1975 oh, I couldn’t agree more!!! undeniable is right. and dr. Laura is rarely wrong about anything in her 40 years. on this one issue she really is particularly smart

@@fmm269 Interestingly enough, I ran across her show on Sirius XM radio just this year and had never heard of her before. However, it did not take long for me to listen to her show and learn so much about decision making as it relates to your IQ vs. your feelings. Very insightful show.

One suggestion for vlogmas might be to film everyday but do weekly vlogs -- perhaps that would make it less overwhelming? Of course, I support whatever choice you make regarding doing/not doing vlogmas! 🥰

Sorry for all the comments, commenting through the video. I would totally sign up for your online workout classes! Also your vlogmas is my absolute favourite, would be happy with Christmas themed videos instead! I wish I could be your friend in person, you are so kind hearted and beautiful, having a tea with you is my dream!

Quote “taking a full week off is not good for your business as an online content creator” Girl, yes it is! If you worked a 9-5 in an office, you would be given vacation time (2-3 weeks per year if not more). Just because you make your hours, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be entitled to that as well. Take time off! Also, iPhones now have a setting where you can set time limits for apps per day. Maybe that will help you unplug a bit more? I would LOVE to dance with you. I hope the streaming would be available to Canadians as well! Take care, friend!

Hi Jen! I wanna dance with you so bad!!! I’ve watched you since I was 12 (I’m 23 now), we actually live not far apart (I won’t say exactly bc internet creeps), you’ve helped me so much over the years. I relate so much to your personality, I’ve always struggled with anxiety and depression but have always been such an old soul and find happiness in home making, children, exercise and things, thank you for giving me a space to grow up. I can’t wait to see what you do in the future, you have inspired me so much and I know you’ll keep evolving over the years. There will always be ups and downs to life but by the blessings in our life we will survive ❤️

Don't mind the negative comments....people operating at a low vibratory frequency can only see through negative eyes. Ignore them and just be yourself. It takes strength and fortitude to put your feelings out there in any situation, but on social media, it can be rough. There will always be people who love to see others fail. Those who encourage and give loving constructive advice are those who want to see you win at life. These are the ones you want in your tribe. You will do well, and it will be because you will see to it that you do. Don't listen to the negative Nellies.
