The suspected high intensity electromagnetic field that is associated with observed UAPs could possibly have an impact on the human central nervous system such that memory consolidation is negatively impacted. This could explain the cognitive symptoms being described. It is know intense magnetic fields used theraputically can cause retrograde amnesia.

That's a great possible explanation @lylemacdonald6672. I find the other explanations of 'dissociative amnesia' , linked to ontological shock that cause people to compartmentalize & hide the memory of a UFO sighting or event also quite compelling. Myself and a friend had an 'orb' UFO sighting once, (2007) and we both went about our biz as if nothing had happened. I recently asked him what he remembers about it, and he had totally forgotten until I mentioned it!
