Everytime I get on a dangerous ride I always make sure they check on if my seat is secured. I even yelled if they take long to check my seat especially when I hear the announcer speak an don't check. Falling out of a high 400 something ride is as scary as getting attacked by lions.. I hope when God took him he did it fast an not have to suffer a tragic long fall scare that long .. Jesus Christ this is a nightmare. I would of pead on myself once I fell out...

@@mablesyrup1571 I feel u I still get on amusement park rides but not a ride on a amusement park goes by I don't think of death.. Pretty soon I'm a be like you an just get on small rides.. As for beach I only go to my belly because of sharks also. But these scary rides are a price you take when getting on it.. Even if they get a large load of money it would be hard for me to spend it because it's like their son's life had a price tag on it... I would rather the employee go to jail who didn't secure it even if they had to do a few years in prison...

@@joeljohnson6137 once he fell out it was fairly close to the bottom and at 75mph it was an immediate death. I don’t say this to be graphic, only that he probably didn’t even have time to process what was happening. At the very least he was afforded that tiniest bit of kindness. Such a horrific tragedy. Still photos have emerged that clearly show that the harness was not fully closed. I know they claim a light on the panel identifies when this happens, but that system apparently failed. Beyond a light on the panel, though, operators should absolutely check each rider prior to starting the ride. If it’s obvious to a layperson like me that something was wrong, it should be obvious to presumably trained ride operators.

Tragic event just horrid, but he was over 300lbs not only is that unhealthy the rides are regulated and three hundred is the top weight. This is dept. of Agricultures job to enforce the code, it could have been prevented by not allowing him due to weight and his parents getting him help for his eating disorder and helping with a healthy lifestyle, it's just awful he suffered like he did with his weight and being turned away at the other rides due to it. I feel bad he never had a chance. No child should suffer like that I feel so bad for him.

I was a ride operator back in 2001 to a similar drop tower ride, and shoulder harnesses like that which weren't fully closed for large passengers, would trigger an alert on our control panel and stop the ride from launching or moving. We were trained to screen people and inform them they cannot ride if harnesses cant fully close for their safety. This appears to be the ride operator and parks fault, and possibly manufacturer if the ride lacked the proper automated security alerts to prevent the ride from launching in the first place.
@odesangel
@odesangel 2 жыл бұрын
I'm going to guess poorly trained employees and negligent operators were the biggest factors. He was too big for the ride. If you look at the video from the incident, you can see the victim in the background before the ride began. I don't know if it was due to the angle of the video, but his shoulder harness doesn't appear to be fastened properly. There looks to be a large gap between the shoulder harness and the seat, whereas on the other riders the harness actually touches the seat between the riders' legs, locking them into the seat. This should've been a red flag. I'm very curious to know how the safety mechanisms are designed and what the tolerances are.
@eugeneszsz
@eugeneszsz 2 жыл бұрын
For a fairly new ride the restraints and safety sensors should be working, the technology to alert and pause the ride from partially closed harnesses have been used in the industry since the 90’s. However this being a smaller park it most likely had poor training, fewer maintenance checks, or possibly an actual malfunctioning defect in the sensors. It also appears it lacked that extra buckle flap as a secondary lock. This is a very unfortunate incident with many simple actions that could have prevented it.

I rode the Falcon's Fury in Busch Gardens Tampa. 336' and you also tilt forward at the top and come dropping down face down and the chairs swing back forward, like a Falcon coming in for landing. The BIGGEST difference I noticed is Falcon's has what I call a crotch belt. It comes up between your thighs and fastens to the harness. Many roller coasters have this feature as well. WHY oh WHY this seat wasn't designed like Falcon's is mind-boggling! Think about it...you have a 300lb+ person coming screaming down at 70+ MPH and braking suddenly and (physics here...) INERTIA keeps this 300lb+ boy flying straight through the bottom of the harness restraint. There was one video I saw either that day or a day later where it had the actual footage of him coming through the bottom of the restraint and that enough was conclusive for me to see what happened. I CANNOT believe it is taking teams of 'experts', analysis, etc. to try to 'figure this out'. This is RIDICULOUS! This HORRIFIC TRAGEDY to this poor grieving family and the loss of this young boy needs to be compensated and, most importantly, there needs to be a SAFE STANDARDIZED harness system for these types of rides.

Death was immediate, I fell 3 ft on my patio, got a concussion, and fractured my eye socket, I fell on the left side of my face. That’s just in the physical sense since he unfortunately absolutely suffered psychologically and was very, very scared in his final moments as he was riding up the tower due to the fact that he knew something wasn’t right and seems to have somehow known he wasn’t gonna make it. I have literally been on a ride like this, the harness was left a little open for me because I have a long torso and large chest and it squished my shoulders & chest down very tight to the point of smashing my spine and since we were going into a freefall the qorkee didn't want my spine crushed, so he lifted the harness a little higher than normal so I would be more comfortable.. Just like this young mans case... (The working trying to help me ultimately almost caused my demise) Once we were up I felt that I wasn't guarded properly (even though I trusted the workers decision to raise the harness a bit) so I decided to hold on for dear life. As we descented.. I almost came out of my seat just like he did.... I was barely able to hold on for literal dear life.. If we had to drop again, I would have completely fallen out because I was already hanging half way out.. Luckily it was only 1 drop and I lived... I don't go on rides like this anymore.. I'm 5'10 and an athletic 270lbs. I was too heavy and too large for that entire setup.. And I could have died on the spot. I was so scared.. And I told the worker what had happened and he just kinda looked around at everyone else (no one else had an issue), once he noticed no one else complained, shrugged and said, "OK" like he didn't believe me.. Even though I was hanging half way out of my harness... A complete gap big enough for me to slip out as the gravity got extreme. Nothing was done and no one else was told about my near death experience. I felt so helpless, and I was panicked from almost dying. I almost couldn't hold my grip.. If it had lasted just a second longer I would have lost my grip.. I still relive it.. I barely made it. I don't know how I didn't end up like this young man. So sorry.. I've realized the rides aren't for larger built people. They are usually meant for people under 5'10" and at a smaller weight. I had the same issue at some tunnel water parks and the raft went flying.. Almost died there too. Again, I've stopped going on rides that throw you around or use your momentum for the ride because for someone heaveir it is catastrophic and the extra height and weight of even 1 person is not calculated into the original safety tests. People with long backs should have a longer more appropriate fitting seats/harnesses. Otherwise the only other option is for the worker to decide to loosen the harness so the riders back isn't crunched into the seat or to tell them they won't be able to ride. The rider has no clue what is and isn't safe for the ride so they have to put trust into the worker.. And the worker isn't taught to look for this type of safety. They just know to make sure the harnesses locks..

The whole event is a nightmare. The young man who died (may God Love him), his family, his best friend who was with him, the people on the ride and on the ground who witnessed this horrible tragedy. The workers who are probably second guessing themselves. The list goes on. This was a horrifying, terrible and life changing event. That nice, talented young man will never realize his dream, his family will never see him grow up. I understand some of what they are going through. My beloved cousin, Erik, was 14 when he tragically died in a car accident. My family has never been the same. My grandparents were nearly inconsolable, as were Erik's parents who were my favorite Aunt and Uncle. Their daughter grew up to distrust close relationships and emotionally struggled with marriage. She was 12 when her brother died. My cousin Erik would have been 46 years old only 2 days ago on March 26th. He would have been married. He would have had children. I would have had the opportunity to have continued to love him and to have adored his wife and kids. But that was not to be reality. I'm writing all of this for Tyre's family Instead, my beloved Aunt and Uncle had another child, Nicholas. Oh, what a joy he has been to my family and me!! At 4 years old he educated me on dinosaurs. At 7 he taught me to play Pokémon!! He is now 30 years old, has a significant other, Kelly (who I think he needs to make an honest woman) and a beautiful little girl!! I can't believe how much I love him and how much he means to me. I want Tyre's family to know that I mourn with them, I emotionally support them and I believe in them to make it through this unthinkable tragedy.

2:51 “the ride doesn’t ascend until everyone is secured in” *shrugs shoulders* well clearly not since he fell to his death since he wasn’t secured or checked in properly. everyone knew by the look of how “locked in” that harness was, he was gonna fall. it’s negligence.

He lied. It's not a rocket science to figure out how that boy fell. #1 he was to big for that seat. #2 his legs was to big as he was squeeze in that seat to lock down the harness. The harness got close enough to make contact with the computer so it read OK. Fact was it was not locked down. #3 the G force was to great threw him to the ground. And they can't figure that out I hope the family sues all the them. God bless his family for their baby is gone. . RIP. May justice be done.

In all amusement parks that I have attended there are numerous warning/requirement signs posted throughout the line prior to getting on the ride. The signs usually have height and weight restrictions with potential health risks including a person's current health condition like heart issues, anxiety, etc. and even warnings to remove glasses or other devices like hearing aides, etc. Adult supervision is often part of the verbiage as well. All too often these signs are looked over and not taken seriously by riders and even the workers. I hope that the park settles quickly and pays up. The family shouldn't be subject to any further pain. This is a tragedy...
