That was because he was still waiting for a trial for murder. I found this documentary interesting but at the same time, they failed to explain a lot of things. He wasn't let off the hook completely, he was just given a chance for a new trial, and they let him wait for the new trial outside. When you're out waiting for a trial for something as serious as murder on bond you are considered a big flight risk so there are all kinds of security measures in place. And unfortunately, that new trial recently happened and he was found guilty again and sentenced to life in prison. (source, for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4PRqKyIZ7Omnqc)

@@normahallum2211 @amyjungwirth-g8q Because he participated in a murder. It doesn’t matter if he was the one who fired the shots. If you are there when someone is killed and participating in a felony (stealing a car) you are as guilty as the person who fired the shots. I am very surprised he was ever let out for even a day for this new trial. Look at the case of the Texas 7 and the execution of the look out guy. He was on the other side of the building when someone in the back shot a cop. He didn’t know about it and didn’t have anything to do with it. But he was there and participating in the robbery so he was executed. It happens all the time. A friend of mine from high school (Justin Fuller) was executed for being present during a murder while stealing $300 from the victim. This is the way the law works here in Texas. Clinton Young isn’t innocent.
