It s another level and the rythm is insane in comparison witht the Tomcat. Hear me well...I like the Tomcat a lot but performances wise, it is outdated.
@rederos80793 жыл бұрын
The thing we are missing is the power. Tomcat had more than double the power of the legacy hornet, and in this video it really looks like it. All of the fast jets I've seen irl, most powerful was the eurofighter, and that is only just above half the power tomcat has. Tomcat is a magnificent plane, and the size makes it even more a wonder. The thing was cutting edge technology back then, and would probably be as good as the other 4th gen fighters now, but the operating costs were too much. Which sucks. I personally love tomcat over any plane, no matter what. Yes, those 5th gen fighters are impressive, but tomcat is just next level. Yes, maybe gripen can outperform the thing. And yes gripen is also a beauty. But I am still really sad that there is no tomcats in flying condition on display in the western world.

Big mistake retiring this great fighter. The F-14 still had a lot of life in her to fly on.
@keymind1176 жыл бұрын
Especially sine the upgrades were already planned and some had taken effect. The F-14D had the same radar as the world famous F-15E Strike Eagle, and it could out carry the F-18 in ordnance, and have a longer range. The engine upgrades were going to give the Tomcat 32000lbs of thrust per engine, around the same as the SR-71's engines, this would also enable it to super-cruise at Mach 1.3, and give it much greater efficiency. It was a big mistake retiring these.

@NCRF5105 жыл бұрын
And the f 18 was more superior to the jets of Russia, China,and North Korea. Other foreign jets could take out the tomcat easier so they made the switch to FA 18
@KLRGT500KR4 жыл бұрын
@@NCRF510 Take out F-14 much more easily? Spoken like a true F-18 fanboi. The F-18 is as slow as a dog and needed F-14s to escort on strike mission. That is a FACT! Did you see the size of those intakes? The F-18 could barely go supersonic with missiles on it due to high drag on the wings and the small size of the engines. F-14s at 60,000 lbsf produced more than twice the thrust and with those huge intakes, it could hit Mach 2.0 in 90 seconds. F-14s to escort in Iraq and Afghanistan to escort to strike missions. Those tiny motors completely ran out of energy under high load and high drag conditions. Ask any actual Naval chief such as Randy 'Duke' Cunningham who ran 'Top Gun'. They will all tell you congress was in the pocket of the Hornet lobbyists. When it came to overall capabilities, the F-18 had nothing on the F-14 especially the D version. Maybe, better fly by wire slow speed maneuvering and better avionics. F-14s escorted F-18s to strike missions. F-14 was much faster, could sustain/add energy a lot more easily because of those huge intakes/motors, much longer range, had a much superior radar, a lot more payload capabilities, much more superior overall air-to-air platform and also had much more efficient airframe as far as aerodynamic drag goes since F-18 was developed to be an air-to-ground strike platform that could do air-to-air while F-14 was developed to be an air-to-air platform that could be adapted to air-to-ground strike missions.

F14 Tomcat forever! Let us all petition the Navy or even the Air Force, for a more advanced version of F14 (Super Tomcat), that is designed with stealth qualities in mind. Such a design for this airplane was already in the works by Grumman, but unfortunately the program was not pursued by the Navy! However, if the American people really ask for this jet back, the Navy or Air force shall probably listen to the nation's request to rebuild a modern and stealth version of this beautiful aircraft, and put it back to service. I know I am just dreaming here! But a man can always dream about the mighty F14 Tomcat! 😀

One thing about the F-14 Tomcat to point out is that it simply can outfox any SAM, ballistic, or guided missile you throw at it. But what people should know also is that this airplane pretty much can fight an entire combat aerial attack, all by itself. Yes!! Just one!!!! Tomkatts only exist in films like this one. As great as they were, the platform was just too oldschool to upgrade to 2019 specs. Like they could never be stealthy. They had almost no internal room for ordinance. They were an analog plane lets face it. You still needed to muscle the stick. But I guess when you are THE badass on the street, stealth is a minor item. My uncle worked on the Phoenix missile. When it was paired with the AWG9 radar, they were a fearsome combination. They were their own AWACS.

Lots of planes had cool features like the swing wings. F1-11, B1-B, Tornado etc. These features are certainly the reason why the planes were sexier then - I like the F35 node capabilities but it’s not exactly sexy. The B1’s trick of ground mapping radar or whatever was cool but not sexy, it was it’s shadow bouncing over the hills and mountains on the screen when it was on the deck that made people’s jaws drop. Delusional, snap out of it and have some respect. We don’t communicate like leftist turds in this area of the Net.
