We ate one meal daily in an indian restaurant throughout vietnam . Bought nice tropical fruits , bread and butter . Thrir complementary breakfast had variety of fruits ,bread ,butter and a veg rice item .

Since you are in South Vietnam, please visit Coochi tunnel where they have made a representation of the tunnel where Vietcong soldiers used to live (about 16000 soldiers lived for 18 years!) during Vietnam war. The tunnels are purposely so narrow that heavy built American soldiers could not enter the tunnel to attack Vietcong soldiers. It was thrilling to enter inside the tunnel by crawling on all fours all the way up to the exit. It was a very thrilling experience indeed.

Go to district 1, you will find indian restaurant in almost evey street. Kashmir, ashoka, ganesha and tandoor are some of the names with good food. Prices are way cheaper than any other country and food is really good. Worst case scenario, go to pizza hut.. you would get cheese pizza and vegetables fried rice..

There are lot of vegetarian options in Vietnam. Now a days eveey where Indoans restaurants are available. If Indian restaurants are not available then need to seach Vietnamese vegetarian food "Chay". Chay food or Chay restaurant. If Vietnamese restaurant is not available then yu can have fruit tea, coffee, fruits, or go any Vietnamese restaurant and ask for veg fried rice or veg banh mi sandwich.

Vietnam me vegetarian food is difficult to find. Plus English is not understood there. You can ask the Banh Mi vendors to give you Banh Mi without chicken (Ga). Banh Mi is a staple food for anyone there. Indian restaurants are way costly and not that tasty. You find corn and coconut water. Buy noodles from seven eleven.

I wish you should have done some internet search before leaving for Viet Nam. In HCMC there are many restaurants serving Indian foods, but all are situated in District . Of course they open around 11am, thus they don't serve breakfast. You can get veg food like noodles and fried rice in Vietnamese restaurants as well. They are pretty cheap. Moreover, variety of fresh fruits are available most of the restaurants.

Look for Ganesh restaurant chain. Near Rex Hotel there are several Indian restaurants ( Ganesh, Tandoor etc)
