Sanremo is not considered a pre-selection for Eurovision, it's a festival on its own born before Eurovision started. It's not automatic for the winner to represent Italy with the winning composition,. He/she has to accept to do so and may even pick another song.

Hey if you don't want to make a video about this 'cause it's not ESC related it's fine, but please check out her cover of La Rodine on the 4th night. La Rodine is the song written by her father in 2002 that talks about someone losing a person and facing the emotions related to that. Her father passed away in 2014 due to a heart attack while he was singing on stage, which made that cover 10x more emotional and somewhat poetic. Maybe also have a quick look at the translation of the lyrics because they're really touching

William, by now I believe you know Angelina's sad personal story. She's the daugher of the late Giuseppe "Pino" Mango, a well respected and succesful italian singer and songwriter in the 80's and 90's, who tragically died during a concert in the hometown of Lagonegro in the southern region of Basilicata. Even more tragically, I still remember vividly the coincidence that during the night of mourning, her uncle (his father's brother) died too due to a heartstroke caused by the great sorrow. I think this is the hidden reason why she had been embraced and cherished immediately by the italian audience, as a sign of respect towards her father, and of course also because of the very good song she brought to Sanremo. By the way, if you like the mediterranean sound and production, you should know the song was co-written by Angelina, Madame and Dardust, who has also worked on Luxembourg Tali's "Fighter". Do you note any similarities in the sound? I look forward to being in Malmo and root for Angelina and Italy!!!! Do you think there's a winner potential ???
