Wizard101| Portal of Problems: The ENTIRE Game BROKE!

Portal of Peril is quickly becoming the Portal of PROBLEMS as a new fourth gauntlet launched today: The Spiral Cup Gauntlet. At first there just appeared to be the normal amount of bugs and glitches, including an infinite shield spam and mob spawn, but quickly a massive error affected the ENTIRE game and made combat impossible, with the timer never running out and players unable to cast spells or finish combat. The devs rapidly attempted to fix the issue but had to once again remove a portal of peril gauntlet the same day it went live, just like the previous gauntlet, Grand Tourney Arena. It’s unclear when we’ll be able to play either gauntlet again, and the other two gauntlets, Sinbad and the Iron Sultan and Fantastic Voyage are at least playable, but also severely bugged. Why can’t we get a single new feature without it being broken in some way? Let’s talk about all the issues and controversy with Portal of Peril.

I’m honestly okay with the duplicating enemies bug staying because you can get points so much faster, but like can we please fix level scaling? And you know, it would be nice to play Grand Tourney Arena or Spiral Cup at some point… or any new content that isn’t bugged and broken at launch. What do you all think about the situation?

Honestly I find it funny that after all these years, portal of peril has completely defeated kingsisle. Such a bummer too because the event is geniunely a cool idea with cool rewards :C

i was monstrology farming and just reached the last level of a dungeon when the broken game glitch hit, and I was like "Wth is going on?" I thought it was my internet and just got off and left for a couple hours, came back and all was fine... I thought that was just me... Dang.

Kingsisle updates for several years now have been littered with the most absurd bugs imaginable and it's obvious there's an alarming problem with QA and playtesting. Pirate101 had THREE different progress-halting bugs in the Krokotopia update that took several days to fix each.

I was grinding my myth when that bug happened. The Labyrinth, I had to finish it for the quest + to get Orthrus. Got to the Orthrus section and that glitch happened. Waited for 30 minutes, it was seemingly fixed to then get that bug four minutes later. Totally agree that we should get something though, a fundamental aspect of the game was glitched and so it effected both PvE and PvP Wizards. I'm just thankful it's seemingly fixed tbh.

Yeah, when the issue was fixed, I was able to finish the quest! It was slightly annoying but there's not really much you can do about it.

I’ve grown up playing MMO games, and out of every game I’ve played, Wizard101 is quite literally the only game I’ve ever played that flat out refuses to compensate the player base for any issues, bugs, glitches, downtime, etc. I find it absolutely maddening, especially with how often these issues have started occurring.

I’m not sure why this showed up in my recommended as I don’t watch wiz content, but it’s good to know what happened. I got off work this morning, just went to do the daily quest on all my characters. First 5 only had visiting the house shop, but last one I had to fight an enemy on dragonspyre and was stuck there for like 5 minute 😢 I thought it was my internet or something lol

I was brynd on the Wizard101 Discord server (wna was pretty active and vocal about how i viewed the game) before I decided to quit the game and the community due to internal drama, and holy HELL this game got WORSE since I quit??? Hello??? How does that even happen? I thought this game was messed up beyond belief when I LEFT but it's actually somehow legitimately gotten more unplayable. How the hell does that even happen? Extremely disappointed but not even surprised at the state of the game. KI won't fix the bugs out of sheer laziness. The fact that they won't even tell people what's causing the bugs really says a lot about their competency to me, it's like THEY don't even know what's happening anymore.

I think they should remove the Portal of Peril all together and make it so you can craft the various gauntlets instead so that everyone has all the gauntlets in their houses. KingsIsle, I really respect you and I want to come back to Wizard101, but please go call up Yoshida Naoki and ask him to send his tech crew over to FIX YOUR GODDAMN GAME BEFORE IT HITS CONSOLES. X( Seriously, the FFXIV tech crew are miracle workers. Yes, that game does crash and bug out at times before very very very infrequently, and that game is a lot more loaded than the 101 games. I mean, come on, KI, when can we have our characters flap their lips when they speak? :(

Compensation: They should give all of us a free month’s membership, but I bet they're going to do what they did before-just extend the member bonus events. I'd rather have a free membership or 25,000-30,000 crowns instead.

Actually, you know what we should do? We should threaten to sue KingsIsle into bankruptcy and shut down Wizard101 and Pirate101 unless they remove all the paywalls from Wizard City and Krokotopia and hire a dedicated playtesting team and maybe get some of those programmers from the Sea of Stars developers who know what they are doing. I'm joking but seriously, if I could, I would join KingsIsle and reform it to add a playtesting group in addition to the test realm. I really did enjoy this game but I hesitate to download the launcher again and buy another month of membership if I can't even finish combat before the game disconnects due to being trapped in combat and eventually getting DC'd by the four-minute AFK timer running out. I'd rather finish up the Final Fantasy XIV MSQ - at least when the game crashes, you know it. (Right after I beat Golbez, the game softlocked in the middle of a cutscene forcing me to shut the game down. Luckily the cutscene was at the transition to the gameplay so I just had to start the cutscene and skip it.)

Maybe it was the issue with team-up problem that causing an issue in Portal of peril where multi-enemy appear with bugs, while I was farming the monstrology creatures for the high enemies creatures.

yes, this affected ALL dungeons in the game. i could not do any battles without fleeing and porting back in, as I spent the morning questing in Mirage. It was horrible!

Yeah that started today around 12pm est. I was stuck in a dungeon resting for 2 hours because it kept glitching. They finally fixed it or got back to normal close to 3pm.

I still find it so stupid that wiz uses the idea that games go down all the time like yeah and they compensate, I may be playing too much cookie run but when they go down for like 5 minutes extra they give out what’s equivalent to like $5 worth of game currency 😭😭

The grand tourney arena was nice, I got to use all my attempts the first run, then they removed it. Sad. It was so easy to one shot everything in a round or two, regardless of player level

They should go through the entire game fix every problem first before getting that peril game open. That way all issues are fixed and hopefully it'll work out down the road later. Rather than fix nothing and continue making more things worse.

Also, are these bugs present in the normal gauntlets? If so, then we've lost a whole lot of wonderful content for the game. :( I mean, my solution would be to add all of the gauntlets to crafting so that people can just make them and put them in their homes. One of my wizards has a ton of gauntlets in their home which I use on my new wizards to level them up and give them badges.

remove the event till they fix it is the best choice, less we be guinea pigs to another worldwide game breaking bug. and since it's already public, KI shouldn't be worried about saving face, moreso worried about how to show to the audience they are sorry can can fix the problems cause this game been around for decades and now we getting unheard of bugs.
