I really feel like KI HAD to be trolling when they made a literal sheep the rarest pet in the game. But, I’d love to hear from the pet collectors out there - what’s the RAREST pet you own? I actually didn’t even realize I had a shardtail dragon until this video when I randomly stumbled across it in one of my pet hoarding houses.

they're not hard to get with the power of patience and your wallet but i almost never see anyone using a timber cyclops (which gives the polymorph treant card) or mulberry hound (which gives the tempest card) I have both and those 2 were godsends when trying to get through the first arch back before all the game changes, The mulberry hound even now is exceptionally op for low lvl PvP. well if PvP still existed anyway

I actually do have the Storm Beetle Pet from all the way back from the 1 million player celebration. I also have the Fog Unicorn pet. I think an interesting idea for a future video would be to go over some of the retired quest lines. Like the 2 most well known ones I can remember was the original Crab Alley quest line with Selena Gomez, and the original Celestia Spiral Key quest that had you go through the Spiral Geography Tower.

I also have an old account (I got back into the game recently) that had a storm beetle sitting in the bank of one of my wizards. I’m almost certain I got it by playing grub guardian. I had no idea it was that rare and almost mistook it for the rain beetle lol

I love history videos like this, would love to see more in the future! Awesome work on all the research! It's actually pretty funny because I was just researching the Friendly Dragon 3 days ago and it seems like the Buddy Dragon has also been retired as a reward for using the "Invite A Friend" feature. I made a new account the other day to test it out and did not get any pet upon logging in. Though because the new account has to spend $6 before getting the crowns added to their account, it might be that you don't get the pet either until the money has been spent.

It was super fun researching everything and doing a sort of “deep dive” into wizard101 history. I’ll have to look deeper into the Buddy Dragon, cuz yeah, I have no idea if it’s still offered as a promotion through invite a friend!

Sheep were also given to editors of the Greek wiki, on the Greek server, although not by KI. I had no idea that it was that rare.

i recently found out i had the storm beetle after seeing Gladrocker’s w101 iceberg part 2, it was just sitting in my old crafting house room with a bunch of other old pets from when i was a kid. pretty sure i got it from playing grub guardian along with my main eyebendito pet. love your content btw 🙏🏻

I have a Boar Knight pet but I can’t exactly remember where I got it. It was probably from 2011 or 2012 before Zafaria released. I’ve also seen a sheep pet before, but I didn’t realize its significance so I never bothered to remember the person who had it. I just remember asking them ‘cool pet, where do you find it?’ And them giving an awkward answer of ‘you can’t’. This was around 2013.

I have the pioneer dragon because I was a beta tester but the sheep pet is insane rare. I have played the game since about a month before it came out and have seen a sheep pet once like 2 years after the games release. the person who had it would not talk to me and I thought i was losing it when I saw it.

There is technically a separate 1/1 Pioneer dragon that was given out to someone with perfect stats, giving the best stats possible for a pet at the time of it being handed out, ik it is at base a Pioneer dragon and would fall under that category, but it was given out by an employee with set stats rather than the bonus one given to players.

I will forever regret not coming back to the game after the beta to pick up the Pioneer Dragon. I remember my friend who got me into the closed beta telling me that I'd regret it down the line but I didn't listen thinking I'd never touch the game again. 2008 was a very busy year for mmorpgs.

Also a hacker leaked the sheep into the game a while back, and all of the accounts who got it, all of their pets ways set to piggles, or the accounts were banned. So the sheep I kinda shady to own lol

I have the danger hound and the boar knight. I also have a peace dove that I thought was pretty rare but didn't show up on this list. I thought I had the friendly dragon but can't seem to find him.

So i got my old account unbanned (chargebacks lol), and that account would’ve had the frankie forearms pet, but i think I deleted the wizard that had it before trading the pet. And I dont have any more space to get the character back, if they even do that for unbanned accounts lol.

The sheep pet is the rarest pet in the game, but I think (respectfully!) you under played how rare it truly is. Additionally : The sheep pet stopped being distributed shortly after it was, so I know there are rumors that only KI employees get them still to this day, but that isn't the case. So only a number of KI employees out there have it, most of which don't play wizard101 anymore, or even work for KI anymore.

It’s definitely a rarer pet. It didn’t make the top 10 because it could be gotten from the Kirins Hoard pack for a period, which made it a bit more accessible, although now I believe it’s been removed. Definitely a top 11 or 12 spot pet though.

Cool video. I don't care too much about pets you can't hatch for or can't even put in shared bank. So in 2024 and the insane amount of hatchable pets is just too much these days. New pets used to mean more with months between them. I'd also say a friend got an exclusive pet in Wallaru. Why make it exclusive? Deckathalon sure but regular boss drop?

Looks like that one was a hybrid pet when the hatchery first released and then was later changed to the regular Nightwalker, but you can still get the original through hatching. Definitely a rarer pet!
