I love that they explained things like what's a "Party" and the spells for normies. Also [ 7:17 ] poison in Wizardry can be devastating, not like poison and other status effects in modern RPGs. Playing Wizardry and all those Old-School hardcore RPGs was like GoblinSlayer episode 1, but way more hardcore. I wish they still made anime like this, and like Lodoss War.
@orelas1678 ай бұрын
@@anonimoalfin But zombies and the like don't inflict poison in Wizardry, they inflict paralysis. That spell was Dialko.
Man the 80s and 90s were the golden age of anime, straight up great story telling and really captured the spirit of what ever genre it was trying to show.

Eeyup, those were good days of anime when a lot of heart and soul were put into the films, OVAs, and TV series. Not saying new anime is bad per say, but it does seem like things are just about cranking them out to get the Bens. .

@@lordraptor5042 Holy shit if you think that wasn't a thing in the 80s and 90s get off your high horse my friend. The only reason you can say that now is because anime and otaku culture has become mainstream but there is a ton of 'girly' and fan service material that was released during this time and not strictly HENTAI either: from games, ovas, light novels, manga, doujinshi you name it. Think hard - weeb shit post 2000 wasn't a new phenomenon. It was always there to begin with.
@lordraptor50424 жыл бұрын
"you can say that now is because anime and otaku culture has become mainstream" You said it yourself ya stooge. Hence my protest. 0_o. It may have always been there but during such times here in America it was extremely obscure. Especially in the 80,s During such times I was ONLY concerned with what was happening in America. I wasn't looking for cute little mousey voiced anime cartoon girls. My first proper anime I was introduced to was Akira, later on Gyver and so on. Anime was on the rise for a long ass time in the 90s. It wasn't till Pokémon Came out that all the cute bullshit started to arise here in the states. After that the rest of its ilk. As far as hentai goes? (and some of that girly shit.) Speaking in a general manner... Get a woman in your life and that shit stops. Hentai (and girly shit) is for coomers who cant get pussy. Ya gotta draw a line somewhere. So like I said. I,m going by my personal experience in the states. Id imagine the girly shit may have been around, but you had to search for it. Now its in your face. Its a fuckin epidemic. I don't give a shit on what Japan is doing in Japan. They can keep that girly bullshit and bring forth the real anime.
I have never even heard of this, but whoever posted this, THANK YOU. What a treasure!

Im surprised too. But there was a game called wizardry
@Asterion6085 ай бұрын
@@bratarnolda1014 This Ova is based exactly on that game, Wyzardry is so massively popular in Japan that almost all Rpg material from there is based on it.
Probably the only anime or show about RPG's that stayed true to RPG's. It is all about the opening scene. Kill monsters; collect treasure, and talk about the spoils at a tavern. Way too awesome and simple.

These animators knew Wizardry like the back of their hands. Very accurate and well done. Wish this was available on blu-ray.

I rewatch this every once in a while and I love how straight to the point and fun this ova is, genuinely the moment where Randy goes berserk with the music kicking in at 31:10 coupled with Sheer's screams (which are pretty heartbreaking), is such a badass moment. Plus, Werdna's evil laugh is top tier.
@MrCantStopTheRobot Жыл бұрын
I was impressed by Randy's roars and shouts. Sometimes I wonder how the Japanese voice actors manage to put so much heart into it while surrounded by cheese. Love what they do, I guess.

This is so awesome! I'm not sure how I've gone so long without seeing this. why does the Japanese make perfect DnD shows and movies every time, and the Americans who created DnD can't. I know the answer, it's just sad to see the entertainment industry fail in the only thing it has to do, entertain.

It's just the classic dilemma, where a bunch of profiteers sniff an opportunity, then start finding "how to get the best ROI" (or whatever euphemism is current). Happened in games, happened in live-action. I'd say there is still a trickle of great anime, but the amount of great anime is steady, while the amount of trash has exploded. Gotta push aside a lot more trash than before.
Well that's entertaining. A simple story well told with minimal fluff.

Here's what they could do with SAO: Reflective Time Travel! IE, when traveling to the past, the graphics and game play mechanics change to fit the style of the time. Polygons, 16-Bit, 8-Bit, etc. Furthermore, the farther back they go, the more difficult the "game" gets. "NO AUTOSAVE!? YOU MEAN WE GET SENT BACK TO THAT SAVEPOINT THREE HOURS AGO!? ALL OUR PROGRESS WILL BE LOST!" "Better play wisely, scrub. Let us old timers show you kids how it's done!"
