Wizards of Waverly Place is an American fantasy teen sitcom created by Todd J. Greenwald that aired on Disney Channel for four seasons between October 2007 and January 2012. The series centers on Alex Russo (Selena Gomez), a teenage wizard living on the titular street in the Greenwich Village section of New York City, who undertakes training alongside her siblings, Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin), who are also equipped with magical abilities. The siblings are trained knowing that one day they will compete to win sole custody of their family's powers. Episodes focus on Alex's challenges in keeping her secret powers hidden while she deals with the social and personal issues of her youth. She frequently uses magic in her everyday life, sometimes irresponsibly, and develops her supernatural abilities over the course of the series. The main themes depicted include family, friendship, and adolescence; the series also contains fantasy elements.
The Walt Disney Company developed the series to follow on from its successful line of comedy series in the 2000s, including Lizzie McGuire, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Hannah Montana. It's a Laugh Productions produced the program and it premiered on Disney Channel on October 12, 2007. A made-for-television film adaptation, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie aired on the network in 2009 and was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program in 2010. The series ended on January 6, 2012, to allow Gomez to take on more mature roles. After its conclusion, the cast returned for a stand-alone television special, The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex, in 2013. Disney ordered a pilot for a sequel series in January 2024, which Henrie and Gomez will both appear in.
Wizards of Waverly Place enjoyed consistently high viewership in the United States on broadcast television and tie-ins included merchandise, a soundtrack album and video game adaptations. Television critics praised the show for its humor and cast; Gomez's affiliation with the network led to a prominent musical career apart from the program. Wizards of Waverly Place won two additional Emmys for Outstanding Children's Program in 2009 and 2012, as well as two Artios Awards from the Casting Society of America for Outstanding Achievement in Casting - Children's Series Programming - between 2009 and 2012. Its series finale was the most-watched final episode of any Disney Channel show.

Having grown up with the show, this is how I would do the sequel: -Justin has kids and the oldest just got their wizard powers (he has 2 kids. the youngest hasn't gotten theirs yet. Youngest can get their powers as the show progresses) -Justin is on the wizard council and doesn't really have time to teach wizard stuff, as he is a single dad, and has to help his kid so with human homework do alll the chores, etc, so he calls "Alex" for help. (Selena Gomez) Justin can be the main character, with selena Gomez, it's just this time he will be the busy single dad. -plot twist, the kids are also vampires (Juliette's the mom, but she ⚰️) and the oldest is a rebel, just like selena was lol. That's why Justin needs Selena so much lol -Justin's oldest kid also has teen issues, etc. they can also make Justin's daughter or son be bff's with harper's human kid. (More on that down below). -for the past 20 years selena has been traveling the world, doing odd jobs, breaking up and getting back together with her werewolf bf, causing wizard chaos, etc. (she would NOT be a mom. Her werewolf bf would be trying to get her to "settle down" but she would be like "pfft, nah. Hahahahaha" and bounce on him every time lol. Selena would also be causing wizard chaos for Justin in the wizard world. Psst, later in the show, like a second season, she would accept her bf, and get engaged. Lol) You get the picture, she is a rebel. -selena also comes by and hangs out with harper and her kid from time to time at the sandwich shop/harper's house. -Harper is a Married mom (married to a human, he ain't important) with 1 kid, who is bff's with Justin's kids. Harper STILL gets dragged into their wizard shinanigans. And harper is like "whyyyy, I'm too old for this!" Lol -the little brother meanwhile is actually doing well as a human, abet lazy. He has a wife, and they still live with his parents. (new person on the show), but she doesn't know max is from a family of wizards. (Dun dun duhhhhh. So Harper and Selena have to help her when she finds out. Justin is busy taking care of his kids.) -meanwhile, Their parents sandwich business is a success Lol Max is actually the co sandwich franchise owner, of like 7 subway shops, with his dad. He is the fun uncle, but still lives at home with his parents with his wife. (They don't have kids yet, they just got married) -the parents still live at the same place (fixed up), but sometimes go out and travel, "bye guys! We gone to travel hahahahaha" and then they show back up a few episode story later "guess who's back from Fiji!" and Justin's kids are like "grandma!" And the dad is like "hey, what about me? I'm grandpa!" -when they leave to travel, they leave Max with all their businesses.) -selena Gomez then has to help with everyone as "the family gets back together" Cast: -Selena as the wizard aunt -Justin as the strict dad -Harper as the tired human mom -"Rachel", Max's wife, as the new human member of the family (they eventually have a baby if there is a second season) -Justin's 2 wizard kids (new cast) -harpers 1 or 2 human kids (new cast) -the brother max -traveling grandma and grandpa and shop business owners -werewolf bf, and later fiancé (side cast) -harper's husband (who gets like 5 minutes of screen time. He is more of a side side cast) This is just my idea for the show.

I do think the idea of justin's kid needing help as a wizard was kinda on the nose. They did mention there would be a young girl who Justin takes in and helps her with her powers. I think that's when Selena would come in, seeing that Alex used to use her powers kind of reckless and selfishly when she was younger🤔 hahahaa it would be so fun to see harper's kids! definitely can't wait to see if they ever bring back mason or Juliette. It'd make a pretty nostalgic episode for the kids to meet their dad's ex girlfriend and to see how his human wife gets along with Juliette

Either they ‘train’ at the sandwich shop to bring back the shop and max who runs it with his wife ooorr max couldn’t run the shop anymore and had to give it up to Justin and Justin allows him to stay working there so when the new girl comes around for training, max can be seen being bitter and trying to sabotage behind the scenes, while everyone just thinks he’s the grouchy uncle who works at the shop, but maybe a bigger bad comes along making max stand with his family and getting over his hump, almost like only he can cause mischief for his siblings not anyone else, that could be fun and delve into the complexities of emotions especially in family and especially when you’re older, maybe even him going to a magical therapist and doing the opposite of what she says, but when his plans fail, he learns the lesson she was trying to teach him in the first place. That could be a fun wacky side plot! I’d like to see it

Yeah, it is all about Justin, because it was the only way to get him back. He wouldn't talk to anyone because ''he was too busy'' until they oftered him centre stage and then suddenly jumps in and takes over the place. Heck, he was jealous of the last show and ended up holding a grudge with most of the cast because he wasn't the main star lol. David Henrie is Justin in real life. As for this, it does make me nervous, hope it continues good

I don't think this is true in a way but I did saw in an interview or something that the original show he was supposed to be the main character before ultimately going to Selena Gomez. No idea if this is true fact or not as I don't remember where I read and or watched where this info came from

@@wyl.22I remember watching a youtube video where he said as much. He was supposed to be the main star and they brought Selena in. I’m sure he was bitter but he rolled with it and did a great job. I don’t know nearly enough about him to have an opinion on him as a person but in the interview at least he seemed decent. Plus I haven’t heard any crazy stories about him.

Honestly the rules don't even make much sense. Because what if after the competition they had another kid? Also the whole point of the competition is the winner is more likely to keep wizards a secret but BOTH Alex and Justin were on trial for exposing the wizard world and got punished for it yet they were both the ones who got to keep their powers

While Max alone kept the secret and passed the harsh test. Yet despite keeping the secret passing the test and even having a tutor at one point he still didn't get to keep his magic. So your right. It really doesn't make any sense that Max who passed the test and kept the secret is the only one who doesn't get to keep his magic. Uncle kelbo I believe to be just like Max and he got to keep his magic.

I was upset when the original show ended because it was honestly fun to watch and had actual character development as it progressed. I think the premise of only having one wizard per family is stupid, and it was my pet peeve the whole time.

@@OfficialThemeprolair Revival sounds so much better here. For Raven's Home, that was a mini-revival in the very beginning until they decided to change things up. Even if it didn't have all of the same characters, at least it had Chelsea in it. Honestly, I didn't mind Victor making guest appearances in the show, but why couldn't they have kept Chelsea, Levi, Nia, Tess and Booker altogether? It makes me wonder if something happened within 1 of the seasons with the above characters from the reboot of the show in terms of maybe scheduling for example. Maybe they all had different projects they were working on and maybe there could have been a scheduling conflict depending on the days and/or times potentially needed for the continuation of Raven's Home, except for Booker ofc because maybe there's a possibility he was the only one who might have had Disney's availability that others might not have had. So instead of continuing from there, to some level, Raven's Home is a reboot over a revival. It's similar to what they did with Bunk'd as well with the exception of Lu & Destiny too to some extent. I believe Emma, Ravi, and Zuri had left the show and tbh, I understand why they left, but it also wasn't the same show for me either once they did. Given, I did watch a few episodes here and there with Destiny, Mateo and Finn in them which weren't all that bad, but def. not nearly as consistent. Despite some of the original cast members of the 2nd version of Bunk'd, they should have just stopped the show when Raphael, Will, and Shelby went off the show. I do understand them wanting Bunk'd to be ran longer, but if the majority of the OG OG cast is not going to be there, then what's the point? Given, I can 100% see the revival of Wizards being totally different than the past show reboots. Also, Shelby Simmons played Ava on the OG Bunk'd who feels like she's been on the show since their Season 1 episode aired, but turns out, she wasn't. Also, I didn't know that Scarlett's character "Gwen," wasn't added in the show until Season 4, but either way, I still loved her character though. I understand some people probably watch it, but I just was def. not feeling the "Learning the ropes,"/ranch episodes at all.

It would’ve made more sense if it was max’s kids considering he lost his powers and his parents said he could still live with them and take over the family restaurant business when he gets older. Instead they retcon the whole ending to instead have Justin take over the restaurant family business? I mean I get it, maybe Justin’s actor was more willing to do a spin off than Max’s actor so that’s why they swapped the roles but I wonder how they’ll explain the whole retcon. I have a feeling they’re going to copy jerry and kelbos story. Justin broke up with Juliet, married a mortal woman so he had to give his powers to max or something like that like his father did for his mother. And max will be somewhat of an uncle kelbo 2.0 whenever he has guest appearances. It’s not a bad retcon per say but it kinda feels like it insists upon itself and kind of ruins the characters ending. I’m glad we’re seeing a continuation of this story but if it’s at the expense of ruining the characters endings and who they are as people then it shouldn’t be revived at all and left the way it was.

I hate to be pessimistic but I have low expectations for this. Every time they bring things back they typically ruin it. I like the Idea of Justin having kids and needing to train them just as the dad did in the original series. But there are some things that need to happen. For one Justin, Alex, and occasionally Max should still be the main focus for the plot. It should be about how the OG characters interact with each other and teach the kids rather than the kids be the main plot driving characters with the occasional appearances of the OG characters. I really hate the idea of Alex being a “cameo” character rather than a main character. I want to see the full original cast in nearly all the episodes even if they don’t do much that episode(i know this is a lot to ask but if they are going to do it they should do it right). I know that i am no longer in the intended audience age bracket but please make this show feel like old Disney. I want good clever jokes that are actually funny not obnoxious jokes like farts or a kid doing the floss dance. Disney shows used to be able to be enjoyed by the whole family but nowadays they just dumb everything down till it’s unbearable. If the show wants to be successful it will NEED good writing. Sorry for the rant but i just wanted to voice my opinion.
