I live in the Portland area and this last summer went garage sale shopping hard for Magic cards. Ended up finding a box one day for $40, right on top was my Tolarian Academy. Glad I kept it instead of selling 😅

I think it’s only speculation on tier four in part. I know the whole RC issue and switch of control has led to a lot of people just stating they will now ignore bans and play no ban edh and cedh. If that is their mindset, then they are already planning on playing fastbond and Tolarian Academy.

I agree. Wizards doesn't have any incentive to unban Tolarian Academy or Fastbond. If they weren't on the reserve list, then I think there's 100% chance of an unban. But you never know time will tell.

I'm new to Magic speculation but a card I see a lot of theotretical potential in is Serra's Sanctum. So Duskmourn had a huge enchantment theme but I think nothing too crazy. However I would like to now consider what happened with like, Lost Caverns and dinosaurs. Wave 2 gave all the real broken shit. I suspect Duskmourn v2 could do the same for enchantments and Serra's Sanctum has a way more realistic upside than Cradle if they eventually just say fuck it and print 5 enchantment land cycle, for instance. Let me know your thoughts!

I bought it light play a few months back for $75 because i really like artifacts, it would be extremely powerful in my urza deck if it ever did get unbanned, and because i figured it would be a nice investment because it wouldn’t go too far down in price ever, but if it did go up, i probably wouldn’t have the chance to buy it again. Glad i did now. I learned a lesson years ago when i bought sliver queen at $25 and almost bought a playset, but since i was planning on just using it in edh, i figured i could always get the others later. A few years after, i look up the cost and it’s above $200 per copy. It’s now one of my most prized cards and i never plan on selling or trading, but if I had gotten the playset, i would have been willing to part with the other 3 at that price.

@@hermodnitter3902 I know that, but it's much easier just to say for the sake of clarity that the reserved list is off the table for tournaments, that you can't run any reserved list cards in your deck without rule zero conversations about them. Personally I would abolish the reversed list altogether, but for me if you want to make sure this format can be able to be played in a tournament fashion, the reserved list has to go one way or another.

@@hermodnitter3902 wizards of the coast will never allow proxies. Only official products are allowed at sanctioned events. Even championship and anniversary versions are off the table. Wizards as a company cannot allow a cheaper alternative to be the face of their biggest format. If they can't provide the cards at an affordable rate, then they shouldn't have those cards in their formats.

LOL @ Fastbond. Not gonna happen. At this point the cEDH meta seems to adjust just fine and the number of unbans we’ll see may be zero. If Wizards wants cEDH to grow the last thing they want is add some broken BS to the format that will push up cost of entry and not earn them a penny. The much more likely scenario is that they’ll use tier 4 to isolate stuff like OG duals and Mox Diamond and then heavily push tier 3 as the official competitive tier.

Fastbond isn't going to happen. It would absolutely be in it's own bracket due to the potential it has. Same with Tolarian Academy. There is no situation, I can think of, where those would be accepted unbannings. Not only will they not generate money for WoTC, but they're generally unfun to play against. There are some occasions when it's fun to just ignore bans and see who can obliterate every fastest.. but not on the regular. I totally have (and will again) play 60-card Kitchen table rules. We even allow everything.. but we generally still don't use things like Tolarian (fastbond isn't sooo bad due to lower life total) because once it hits the table, the game is over. #BOOMSTICK
