Every dumb action in the warhammer end times 1. The whole elven civil war thing is just nonsense. These people literally hate each other for thousands of years and somehow they all become best buddies under Malekith? Also making Tyrion the bad guy here is nonsense. 2. Chaos invading Naggaroth is way too easy. Dark elves have an extremely fortified northern border and this does nothing. 3. Lizardmen just sit around and let the Skaven attack them and the moon explode on them. 4. Southlands, southern wastes and far east are just completely ignored. Cathay is the largest realm of man and we have about a paragraph of what happened to it. 5. Tilea and Estalia pretend like the Skaven don’t exist, even though literally every source contradicts this and they actually mock the Empire for being ignorant of the rats. Tilea and Estalia are also the most experienced at fighting the Skaven and they get completely wide out in literally one weekend. 8. Kislev is the foremost bastion against Kislev and they also do almost nothing except die. 9. Balthasar Gelt is an idiot for no reason and causes the wall to collapse because he’s using necromancy, something he would never do. 10. I don’t think the Empire actually wins a serious major battle on its own. Every time they fight chaos, infinite northern reinforcements come or a vampire has to come and save them. (Marienburg, auric bastion, alrdoetf, middenheim, talabhein etc) 11. High king dies because a ducking door is left open.

Retconning Malekith as being worthy of the Phoenix throne the whole time and only didn't because he hesitated in the last minute, despite the fact prior to the “test” he allied with Slaanesh cults (you know the guys who worship the God who loves eating elf souls) , amass a traitorous Army, murdered the former Phoenix King, and killed anybody who dared question his blunt regicide. Why the hell would the Elven God of Law and Order ever think he be worthy of the throne. 13. The Skaven randomly joining sides with Chaos for no reason, considering they never did such a thing before and even allied with Order one time to stop one of Nagash’s plans. 14. Manfred deciding to kill Gelt just to spite Nagash which ultimately dooms the world and would most likely ensure he gets tortured for all eternity by the 4 chaos gods, good job there Manfred.

I think GW saw the reaction and decided to not have that again. I think their original plan in the inevitable rewrite of the 13th Black Crusade was to have it be so much more successful than it was, but a lot can change in a few years. Especially given that 40k is their best selling stuff, so they'll want to keep that going for a long while.

As someone who plays Warhammer fantasy since 2005 and before that Heroquest and Warhammer Quest, the end times never happened, I find the end times lore poor and rushed to end the game. Nice video though.

The lack of backstabbing between Skavens is so fucking sad. I can understand making them strong in the end times, justifing it as them finaly working together, *BUT* in the middle of it they should have made one of the smaller Skaven clans, betray another small Skaven clan, causing a chain of bretrayal, that resulted in full Skaven civil war, making even the council of 13 brake off, and result in world wide chaotic Skaven warfare. It even could have resulted in the end by having a group that sides with the order factions and another that sides with chaos

It's really hard to find a change in a fictional setting that is universally loved or universally hated, but I'll just say this. I have never seen anyone who had anything but absolute vitriol for the End Times. I've seen people who really loved how things transitioned into vampire the requiem. I've seen people who really love the combat update to the old Star Wars MMO. I have never seen a single person who thinks the end times was anything but absolute trash.

I kind of respect that GW had the guts to do their own take on Judgement day, but I will agree with the fanbase that it could have been better written, which isn't terribly surprising when you consider it was written by committee. For me the story falls apart with the elves, Malekith secretly being the Phoenix King makes no sense and Teclis stealing the flame of Ulric left a sour taste in my mouth.

The thing is, AOS and GW fanboys act as if the Fantasy fans are mad cause everyone died, that's not it. END Times was just shit all around with plot holes and characters not acting themselves and doing stupid shit that no normal person would do. Add to the fact the Skaven did more then Choas, the armies of Order ALWAYS lost, and a myriad of other bs, End TImes is just shit.

I don't like anything about GW other than the fantasy setting, I'm not an AOS or 40k fan. Bearing that in mind, I find it impressively stupid that GW decided to axe their first franchise simply because it wasn't doing as well as 40k. When a Christian monk does a better job ridding the world of his Norse gods in Ragnarök than a major company with multiple writers attempting to do the same... Well, it says something about their writing.

TL;DR Games Workshop needed to rename every generic faction to keep the intellectual property (Aelves instead of Elves, Orruks instead of orcs and so on) so the easiest way to justify that was to have the whole world go through a tiny hole named the end times where every generic item of the lore died and was replaced with new, solid IP items like stormcast eternal, fireslayers, etc. All kidding aside, great video, thanks for the hard work, OP!

I will never consider the End Times as canon. The same way I dont consider Boruto canon. As of now Creative Assembly's Total War is my current setting for Warhammer Fantasy.

As someone who never got into warhammer and prefers the 40k universe, it's nice to get a summary of the biggest story plot to warhammer. It helped having played TWWH2, otherwise I'd have zero idea what was going on. Having seen familiar characters and regions, it was very easy to understood since the conflicts in those regions are part of the end times already. Looking forward to the completion of the Horus Heresy summary.

Its taken me 4 weeks to summon (or hold back the bile) the effort to write this. Well done to the team for trying to make sense of the mess of the final book. The writing was so bad, people and armies (dead and alive) popped up with no real explanation of how or why. Timelines were so warped and ... you know never mind. Well done guys. It's done and can now be consigned to the pit where it should always have been left.
