Wizz Air - 1,000 women pilots by 2027

As part of our WIZZ Cares sustainability platform, we have committed to recruiting 1,000 women pilots by 2027. Currently under 5% of our pilot workforce are women and we’re aiming for this number to be over 20% by the end of the decade. We will do this by creating a healthy and supportive work environment for everyone and breaking down old-school gender stereotypes one step at a time. For this, we followed Captain Andreea Popa and Senior First Officer Minola Platon on a return flight from Budapest to Skopje and talked to them about the highlights of being a pilot at WIZZ.

As a Flight instructor on sailplanes i can safely say most female students i instructed where more cautious and more compliant with procedures than their male counterparts. In my opinion this makes for better and safer pilots.

I love wizzair its one of the best company I never had problem with them in 6 years traveling to UK from Romania 🇷🇴 . They have the best airline on Europe before to fly with them i flying one time with Ryan Air wich was worse and crapy. So yes the wizair its the best. 🤗🤗 and I'm happy because kn board ots romanian staff 💘 love them they are so respectfully and happy to offer you the best services when you need ❤ ♥

I believe competitive pilots able to do their duty should be employed no matter of gender. Having an goal to have 1000 female pilot by certain date will just create pressure on recruitment team creating negative selection at the end...

I love wizz air I really do but they are trying to meet the EUs gender policy which is impossible instead of focusing on gender they should be focusing on quality of airmanship and ensuring the pilots they have now they retain and that new pilots not only meet but exceed the standards set by their time served colleagues in the hot seats that's more important then gender

Nice & surely a good intention. But why not the best PILOTS; regardless of gender. Tired of this topic - emancipation. Most cannot hear it any longer. Decades of hard work & technology made this job now available for almost everyone - often not the best & and it shouldn’t be confused with gender politics. To this point: The best women & men belong into our flight decks with skills & technical knowledge/ degree - not a certain number...,and certainly not lifestyle orientated personnel.
