It's fascinating reading some of the comments criticising various aspects of this match. 12 minutes pretty much none stop is incredibly impressive. And as for the 'sloppy technique' comments, maybe, if being judged against the grossly exaggerated training techniques that are designed more to condition muscles than to use in combat. These two karatekas deserve respect. Most of those criticising I suspect have never even trained in anything.

Exactly! People who call them sloppy techniques have never fought full contact at any, especially this, level. So they don't have any real world experience to know that techniques won't look perfect every time BUT they will be effective.

無名 面白いコメントですね　今は武道も近代スポーツと同じように興行として、知名度やカッコよさで門下生集めて収入を得なければ行けない側面も有るから「空手弱い」って何にもやってない人たちの意見も完全に無視は出来なくなりました。フルコンの試合は修行の一環と捉えられてる為、骨折してまで闘わされ勝ってもトロフィーのみって試合も多く有ります。 そんな物より拳一つで何億も稼げる可能性の有る総合やボクシングの方が人気で選手層も厚くなりますよね。 先日のミャンマーラウェイの選手と総合の試合で総合が勝ったり、結局ルール有る大会ならそのルールを練習するのが一番良いですよ。 極真と総合でもし空手が総合より知名度が高ければフルコンルールに総合選手を呼んでフルコン世界最強って思う方も多かったんじゃ無いかと思います。 空手は闘う前に負けてました。 ps.これを読んでくれた沢山の人に 自分の好きなものや最強だと思う競技があるなら見てるだけじゃ無く例え大会に全く出なくてもやってみたら人生のいいスパイスになると思います。みんながいい人生おくれるよう願ってるよ

@@uwj.k 顔と金的でしか倒せないような気もするけどね。堀口選手のは寸止めの空手を相手に当てて効かせるように本人が昇華してますよね。もともとの空手は堀口選手がやっているのが本来の空手だと思います。寸止めの空手でも確かに普通一般のひとよりは強いのはたしかですが、寸止めの空手やっている人で素人から顔をボコボコに殴られているのを見たことがあって、実際にあてて競わないと慣れが出てこないし恐怖で動けなくなるんじゃないかな。もちろん当てるといっても普段からそんなことしていたら顔なんか骨折するは目は失明するは鼻はおれるは顎は砕けるはになると思うので防具やグローブをつけて鍛錬することが大事だと思います。

kudos to both fighters, the Japanese fighter did good blocks, the Kazakhstan fighter has good drilling punches. but both seemed to be sloppy in combos, only the first few strikes in the combo showed good technique, the rest are sloppy. but understandable though, been in that situation where exhaustions takes the best of us, especially in a tournament.

I respect kyokushin, but the way they fight seems not in accord with the aim of karate. There are already many punches delivered and no one still go down because their punch target allowed is the body. There is no power in their punches. they said that karate is to strike down your opponent in one-punch. there are no punches to the face only kicks; and they just punch and exchanging punches no blocking or evading and that is not the reality of fighting. I think players can keep punching as they did in this vgideo because there are no punches on the face. if it is allowed no one will just attack and keep punching on the body of their opponent because if they will be hit on the face for sure they will retreat or go down. The JKA do not have those punching and punching style because they are allowed to hit the face with a punch or kick.

Victor Tesla U r irrelevant. It is not what punishment they can absorb is what i am talking to. It is the contrast in the kumite fighting. Kyokushin do not smack on the face but to the body while JKA shotokan smack both face and the body.When you hit the face either the opponent will be knockouted or get hurt.You do not need many punches but one can do to beat ur opponent. That is the challenge. How to win with one punch or one kick.

Victor Tesla No way. Without the face-punching there's not how a striking bout be realistic. JKA is way more what Karate should be than Kyokushin. The closest thing we have from a real fight nowdays is MMA, who comes directly from vale-tudo, and we have a lot of semi contact fighters doing well while you see not one from Kyokushin. Lyoto Machida, Gunnar Nelson, Kyoji Horiguchi, all great fighters which you can cleary see the Karate forms. Of course JKA fighters would be lost in a Kyokushin bout, you guys take off the punches making the fighting too much unreal. Kyokushin fighters in a Boxing ring be lost too, at leat the semi contact guys can avoid a lot of punches to the face. Karate is about hitting without being hit, that's why JKA works better. Kyokushin now is only for yourselves, fighters from other martial arts are looking for JKA or WKF Karate to learn more about timming due to the success of Karate fighters in UFC.

While I understand your opinion on no punches to the face, I disagree with you saying that there is no strength in Kyokushin punches, they are in fact very strong but they don't usually put their entire wight behind straight punches for two main reasons as I understand it: Firstly, their stance is deisgned to be able to throw continuous mawashi geri's and punch at the same time, with body hooks and straight punches, which leads to them not favoring fast single-strike knockout-punches. Secondly, since they repeatedly train at taking strikes to the body, their pain-threshold is raised and therefore it is extremely hard to knock out a Kyokushin karate-ka with punches to the body. If you are not allowed to punch to the head, it is unlikely that you will be able to knock down Kyokushin fighters with punches at all. Also, the way it has been explained to me is that Karate from the start was designed to be an unarmed style used for self-defense against armed oponents (mainly mainland Japanese?) who may or may not wear armor. Kyokushin originator Masutatsu Oyama took this further in saying that the body must be put through continuous training, hardening and kumite in order to shape it into a hardness and strength to rival a weapon. If you shape your body to withstand pain and punishment to that level, any strike you make would, in theory, be equal to a weapon even if you are unarmed (doesn't Karate actually mean "empty hand" as in unarmed combat?) Think about it, Kyokushin Karate-kas do this kind of training every day and so their bodies are conditioned to be able to receive this kind of pain and still keep on going. If they were allowed to punch and elbow to the head I think that there would be very few practitioners over 25 in the world. I am not trying to be offensive or be disrespectful, but maybe you should visit a Kyokushin dojo and train with those Karate-kas? I have only tried Karate a few times, but to me Karate has always seemed to show itself to be very inclusive of all styles, emphasizing that all Karate is one family, and all Kyokushin practitioners I have met have always been very polite, respectful and friendly :) Especially the pros.

I have just express what i saw in this video and other videos. I have some elementary training in karate and a little get- the- feel fight with gloved boxing and it is natural that a person will step back if hit in the face; as I experience in high school, a bare knuckle punch when it hit the face will cause bleeding to the nose or lips and numb the face. you cannot just go close in because it hurts to be boxed on the face. I do not believed that punches are delivered in preparation for a kick. There must be already power in their punches to the body but not yet powerful enough to tumble down an opponent. It cannot be an excuse that the players do not put power on their punches in order not to injure their opponent. That's just not practical because by instinct, no matter how trained they are, will be punching strongly. Elbow is not really allowed because it is destructive, just as one knuckle punch or spear hand strike is not allowed to the body. I am not a blackbelt on any martial art but i am not dumb either about this thing. I do not denigrate any martial art style because to me they are all good. it is up to the user. I am just expressing my comparison as i see them. Thanks.

this is kyukushinkai karate not Shotokan JKA. They do not punch the face only the body. So they can go close quarter and exchanges many punches to the body and then suddenly kick to the face. Shotokan cannot go close qaurter except when to deliver a punch usually to the face.
