I found $20 yesterday at a museum. The lights were kind of low, to avoid fading the exhibits, I guess. So, I did not see it on the floor right away. I picked it up and looked around. The only other folks there was a couple, 20 feet away and walking slowly away from me. I walked over to them and asked if it was theirs. They said no. I was worried that when walking over to them waving a $20-bill in my hand they might think it was some kind of scam. It's in my wallet now, thanks to an anonymous donor.

@ Fair point. But part of the grift is to communicate like criminals, who are usually uneducated and often stupid. As well, maybe that's baked-in? Like, you want your mark to be kind of stupid and uneducated, and greedy. If someone overlooks poor spelling and grammar or don't even notice it they are halfway there. The "Nigerian Prince/Spanish Prisoner" scams work this way in part. Emails are badly spelled with incorrect grammar because they want to weed out people who can think critically so they don't waste time.

Funny, when he said by law we have to hold it for 30 days. If he said you need to show your money in good faith. I’d say no. He than says, no that’s not good enough than. How can we trust you if you don’t put up some cash? I’d say, Since you found the money, you take it all to the police station yourself, you let them hold it 30 days, that solves the whole problem. You keep it all. See ya later. 😊

I was at the ATM the other day, as I get into my car, a guy walks up to my window and says "Is this yours?" and shows me my wallet. I said yes, he hands it to me and walks off. I can't believe it, my wallet fell out of my jean jacket as I got into my car. Lucky I had no cash in it, but all my credit/debit id's and medical cards were in there. Would have been a nightmare. I popped the horn and he came back, I gave him $40 for his trouble. He was happy and so was I.

@YG - 09ZZ 739885 David Suzuki SS That's obviously a red flag that the scam hinges on, and anyone falling for it would have their judgment clouded by greed to blindly accept the opinion from a stranger's "friend." That is what a court of law would consider hearsay and it would be inadmissible.

Yep, this happened to me. A guy showed me a paper bag with $3,000 in it, he told me he wanted to go into the stripclub to get a lap dance, but was afraid the stripper was gonna steal his $3,000 dollars. He asked me if I could hold his money, while he went inside. He also asked me if i was trust worthty. I told him he could trust me with his money. He then asked me if i had any money on me and to proof i was thrustworthy, he said to put my money and his money in the same bag. I immediately gave him my $300 thinking I was gonna get away with this idiot's money. We put my and his money in the same bag, he gave me the bag with cash and he walked into the stripclub.. When he was out of my sight, I headed towards my car and left. When i was in a safe area, I opened the bag, just to find a whole bunch of newspapers in it....

The only way people would fall for this is if they were extremely elderly and thus confused, but naturally trusting, but even then I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone gullible enough to even continue the conversation longer than one second after a third person "just happened" to saunter up. LOL. Hell, I wouldn't have even engaged the first person. I trust NO ONE.

0:34 this is the equivalent of the karate expert trying to demonstrate how to get out of a hold and saying, “grab my arm. No not there, grab it here.” If you said something like that to a con artist they would probably think, okay this isn’t the mark for me and move on. They want to pick just the right person for this con. Blue shirt guy should have pointed that out instead of just correcting the other guy.

I would get to the subway each morning to go to work, by going out my backdoor and shortcut through the alleys, at about 6 in the morning. Several times I'd find 20s...because people sold narcotics back there at night and would often drop one or two of the many 20s they'd collect. That's about the luckiest I got with found money.

Be suprised how many fall for these types of plays. You can't cheat an honest person thats true, the person has to have a little Larsen in them

Sad thing is people do fall for stuff like this. Even just giving money to a "homeless" person is a scam, and how many people do that
