Hugs to this kid. Trying to save his life and help a girl off the floor while seeing his peers being shot... I'm a first responder and this student is displaying classic signs of shock and, as the newscaster mentioned, still clearly running on some residual adrenaline. Things like this raise your cortisol levels and the lasting trauma has the same effect on you for long after the event has passed. But he did the right thing and my heart just breaks for the student killed and the other critically injured. So so so so sad.

I hate this for our children, its making me cry! The constant traumatization of our children in society, especially when in school is overwhelming. Imagine being a teenager, unexperienced in the world and being faced with a life or death situation and the fear and panic that they were feeling. It breaks my heart. When I initially saw the thumbnail: "17 year old identified as shooter", after seeing a previous video in which he was identified as an African American, and this photo was in the thumbnail, did anyone else think that the thumbnail was a photo of the shooter randomly taken, perhaps by an acquaintance, before the shooting occurred? Kid perked up and became articulate when taling about gun control. Thr interview itself seemed very on point for hearing about it on probably a phone call, rushing to get to camera man and news truck an deivkng to where this locale is at, all the while coming up with guided questions that are spot on for an entire interview, AND simultaneously finding a victim, and bonus a mom. Both combining to follow the entire interview, without poignancy. The kid did remind the reporter that he cared, off screen after the cameraman panned to his mom answering into the mic. Good job l'il buddy. Look for him in the future

This isn’t the first time the shooter brought a gun to school. This is according to a student I just saw on Channel 4 Live Broadcast. Let that sink in. This is not uncommon. The worst part? The girl being interviewed said, “he had brought a gun to school before, but nothing happened, he didn’t try to shoot anyone, so it wasn’t a problem.”
