​@Unicronicorn I would. It's clearly an issue between urbanites vs rural people and waved purely for voting purposes. Handguns in urban areas are definitely the largest source of gun crime, by far. However, rather than admit we have a gang problem, urbanite politicians attack rifles, which are the weapons one would use to change their government. The government can't outright ban rifle ownership because it needs a source of people that know how to use them for its own military. The issue will never change one way or the other in the current system so it is indeed pop culture and sound bites.

@The3rdPlateau This is actually the reason hunters often do carry high-caliber revolvers when hunting. Because if a large animal gets too close to you, you can't get the rifle around in time, and some large game (and bears) can easily kill a human. Some hunters actually hunt with large-bore handguns, too. I suppose it's more challenging, since you have to get closer... or maybe it's just a man thing. Who knows. :|

I did use my brain. If you are talking about a state enforcing this law through fines, then the refusal of paying the fine leads to more notices and penalty fines. If the person refuses to pay said fines, the cops (men with guns who are no different than you or me) would come force them to go to jail. If the person didn't want to go to jail, they would defend themselves against the kidnappers they would get shot for resisting. It's not like if someone chooses not to pay a fine, that...

You shouldn't make it mandatory. But you could have gun education widely available and teach them how to use guns safely. That would create jobs. It is in people's self interest to get a gun to defend themselves, once they realize that the type of police we have now are almost useless in the protection of people.

This is hilarious. Though I'll point out armor piercing ammo should be legal at least for rifles because most rifles will blast through all body armor except ballistic plates. No vest will stop 5.56 or 7.62x39 let alone full sized rifle rounds(.308/7.62x51, 30-06) used for hunting. AP Full sized rifle rounds are used more for chewing up lightly armored vehicles.
