@@TheSP33DFREAK I'd honestly never even heard of it before. I know Jodie Foster from Silence of the Lambs, though - that is an EXCELLENT movie! It blows my mind that a movie was done so well without much action or story in it. I've not seen anything like it, but it's very DC feeling (and normally I'm a Marvel/Disney guy) and it was up there with Joker and Dark Knight. Although, I still think Endgame or Empire Strikes Back are still the greatest movies ever made.

He definitely was inspired by the Viet Cong to create the Rebels, he's said as much. Given that, it would be natural to assume the Empire are supposed to be like the US, but I don't think that's correct. The Nazi coding is pretty obvious - in particular, a Hollywood trope that was very common at the time was to cast German generals and the like with English actors, which is another tipoff to the audience who the Empire is supposed to be. Why, Julian Glover who played General Veers, even played a Nazi in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! :D
