Michael Stanley's daughter pays tribute to her late father at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute

The Rock Hall in downtown Cleveland hosted fans as they joined with Stanley’s family and band members for a special presentation in the outdoor plaza at 10:15 a.m. Greg Harris, the President and CEO of the Rock Hall, called Stanley "Cleveland's treasure" during Thursday morning's tribute.
Items from Stanley’s collection have also been added to the museum’s “In Memoriam” display, including his Jon Hill custom guitar, handwritten lyrics and setlists.
“You have been the most loyal fans in the world," one of his daughters said while speaking to the Rock Hall crowd. "He truly appreciated you and always enjoyed the personal interactions, whether it was backstage, at a charity event or even at a grocery store.”

Learned of MSB through a dorm mate I met when I entered college in St. Louis in 1980. He was from Cleveland. I saw him multiple times all over the Midwest, sometimes driving up to 8 hours for a concert. Michael Stanley and MSB continue to be a big part of the music I enjoy today. Great music and great memories. Thank you, Michael Stanley.

When living in Columbus, Ohio, in the seventies, a friend introduced me to Michael’s music so I added his album “Friends and Legends” to my collection. As time went on, I lost touch with his music then found it again. The family has my deepest sympathy. Thankfully, his music lives on for us to enjoy.

His band must have been underrated or a regional band as I had never heard of them until a few years ago and I am over 50. Once learning and listening to his music I started to enjoy it.

They came pretty close to blowing up nationwide but it just didn’t happen. My Town was getting pretty big but their label dropped them anyway. They for sure got screwed. But Michael Stanley is an absolute legend here in northeast Ohio.

Coulda/shoulda been Cleveland's Bob Seger, but just never broke through on national level. Tried to replicate live album success of Seger & Frampton with the great Agora Live album & was even managed by Irving Azoff, Eagles manager, for a while (guessing Joe Walsh connection helped there). So many great songs....great voice, rocker, songwriter & performer. MSB was so much better than other bands that "made it." Fickle business. Those of us in Cleveland got to enjoy him. RIP and grateful for all the great times.

He was an icon and a legend in all of Northeast Ohio. He set attendance records at the Richfield Coliseum and Blossom Music Center that have never been broken. He was Cleveland, but never made it nationally for some reason. RIP

i didn't know michael was dead. i didn't see new albums of him in amazon to buy for several years. my first album was Y.C.F.F with my town and others songs. my fav album is coming up from air i will miss him and his music.
