Reminiscing, wish these 2 songs were on iTunes/Apple Music so I’d have more than ‘Greviances’ to take me back to a simpler time. Miss you guys

Very memorable riffs. Riffs with "mental staying power", if you will. Riffs from the songs you heard earlier are now in your head to enjoy. Melodic well-written riffs complemented by sub drops and tasteful breakdowns. "Grievances" hurls "hooky" riffs at you without it sounding hokey and immature. WLIM's style on the disc sounds very mature and refined. I enjoy that aspect as well.
@brutalnet12 жыл бұрын
I've been in and out of bands for like 20 years, and have witnessed plenty of people overpersonalizing what should have been constructive feedback. Really guarded about their own material. I think that the mark of a good musician is to leave themselves open to people's suggestions. It's basically a free producer for the band. If you like the stuff they suggest, score.

agreed, as a producer myself, I could not agree with you anymore. I work with young pop punk and hardcore bands all the time, and some of them are so quick to take my advice while others are quite reluctant. Either way it's a phenomenal feeling to work with a band face to face and to know that your musical expertise is helping them write songs that just POP OUT. I'd have to listen to this song a few more times, but I agree this song can use some improvements. It's a great start, though!

If not, no love lost, ya know? I used to leave a lot of room for input from friends and other musicians (and still do when I'm writing) Tt's resulted in some big big things, and some massive improvements. I also dig the fact that they like it enough to be analytical and offer "what they hear". I obviously have a hard-on for material development. lol

Not meant to troll, or be an "anti" or whatever, but I don't hear this as a standout like the songs on the last release were. I hope for more from future songs, however. I am a HUGE fan of the last disc. Again, nothing personal, just offering my opinion.
@brutalnet12 жыл бұрын
And I know, you guys aren't looking to be a pop band, which seems to come to mind when the I talk about hook-y riffs, but in application it's the polar opposite of pop.

As a producer and musician, I think first off would be to slightly - slightly, mind you, rewrite a few riffs to make them more likely to be remembered. I know that WLIM has the ability to write epic riffs. I'm not going to say the riffs on this song are bad, or terrible, or anything like that - they're very good. I just think that the riffs could be refined a bit. It's hard to describe in text on KZbin. Much easier to be face to face and offer feedback. This'll have to do for the time being.
