I have ridden a new car in Nebraska a where they make them. I deliver the steel to them along with aluminum they use to make these train cars. The factory is incredible as they have test tracks outside the plant and are getting them to full speed and slamming on the brakes for test runs. Let me correct myself. They make the 7000 series here in Nebraska . I work for State Steel and we are taking semi after semi of steel there. Awesome plant. BTW I think they make motorcycles and dirtbikes here too. Nebraska is an awesome easy going state. Try it sometime as we even have the number Zoo in the world. Born in DC and road the Metro the first day it opened from Benning Road, this was a change but I deserved it.

Thats rust. They don't ever repaint the 1000 series cars, so they get very rusty.

Angela Joseph That is an Yellow Line train not Green line on rush hour some yellow line trains operate between Franconia Springfield to Greenbelt

One thing I found very strange is that even is even though they are still improving on the system. They haven't gotten rid of the 1000, 4000, and I believe 5000 series. I think what they are trying to do is to retire both or the 3 series of railcars and buy the 7000 series every month I believe. Keep the 2000 and 6000 for a few more years. And then in the 2020's they will make way for the 8000 series. What are they doing so far with the train replacements? Anyone know?

Yeah the plan is now to replace the 1k, 4k, & 5k with the new 7k railcars, then in 2020s buy 366 8k railcars to replace thw 2k/3k railcars

+WMATA1000 Sounds good that they are gonna at least gonna keeps the classics for a little longer than expected. Hopefully they will improve the system, I heard a lot of terrible things going on with the system.

21xd09 Yeah now we have an new maintenance plan which is in effect now which will help improve system in areas that need it to improve our infrastructure
